GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Walnuts are a family favorite snack in my home. We add them to salads, fruit and baked goods. There are so many ways to enjoy this healthy and delicious nut. This recipe is a novel way to get your crunch on. Enjoy!
Ingredients
- 1 egg white
- 3 tablespoons honey (Paige uses local Straughn’s Honey)
- 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne
- 4 cups raw walnut halves
Directions
- Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk egg white, honey, paprika, salt, and cayenne in a large bowl. Add walnuts and toss to coat. Spread walnuts on baking sheet.
- Bake until mostly dry but a little tacky, 20 to 25 minutes. Let cool completely, about 30 minutes. (Walnuts will crisp up as they cool.) Because it is so humid in Florida, I prefer to store in the fridge.
