High Springs residents vote for new city commissioner in special election

Former Commissioner Steve Tapanes stepped down due to concerns about Form 6, a financial disclosure form for elected officials.

HIGH SPRINGS, Fla. (WCJB) - The results are in for the special election in High Springs to select a new city commissioner.

Wayne Bloodsworth Jr. won the election with 54 percent of the vote defeating Chad Howell. The special election was held after former Commissioner Steve Tapanes stepped down due to concerns about Form 6, a financial disclosure form for elected officials.

City officials say 674 people voted in the election. Voters could cast a ballot at two locations, High Springs Civic Center or the First United Methodist Church until 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
