LAKE CITY, Fla. (WCJB) - The mayor of Lake City is reflecting on his 19 years in office.

Mayor Stephen Witt told TV20 he is not running for reelection but will still practice law. He wants to travel and to spend time with his family.

His proudest accomplishment is keeping the tax rate down in the city. His biggest challenge has been meeting the infrastructure needs.

“We’re a growing community and there is going to be a lot of growing issues and there has been,” Witt said. “It’s been rewarding meeting those challenges and there’s a lot of challenges coming forward for us. It’s not a really small town anymore, it’s growing.”

Witt said he will support Noah Walker’s campaign as he runs for mayor. Walker is the only candidate at this time after Sylvester Warren dropped out of the race.
