GAINESVILLE, FL (WCJB): The wait is over for the GHS softball team. The Purple faithful gave a memorable sendoff to the Lady Canes as they head out to Clermont.

The Lady Canes are looking for their first state title since 2016.

It’s been a memorable year as the viewing area was introduced to freshman “two-way” player Leanna Bourdage. The GHS freshman has rang up 230 strikeouts and finished with a 18-3 record with an absurd 0.52 ERA. She also batted .381 and fired seven homers (including her first career grand slam).

it has also been this insane batting lineup who 1 through 9 can compete in any type of game. It starts with Braylin Cook who has blasted it over the wall 12 times this season. She leads the team with 43 RBI along with McKenna O’Sullivan who is second with 33 RBI’s. The key to putting up a absurd amount of runs is their extra base hitting skills. They have 45 doubles and four triples as a team.

The (23-4) Lady Canes take on (16-5) Archbishop McCarthy out of Fort Lauderdale. The first pitch is at noon in Clermont.
