GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Terrence Ho is showcasing all the great things Alachua County offers. He published “The Travelling Canary in Alachua County,” which celebrates the 200th anniversary of the county with drawings of local landmarks.

Ho grew up in Alachua County and taught art at Oak Hall School. He started drawing several pages for the book 7 years ago before he fell ill.

“There was a period I couldn’t draw and got sick, almost deathly ill,” said Ho. “I decided to put together some drawings of mine for my students and they really liked it and after I got out of the hospital, I kept collecting these drawings.”

Now, he has completed nearly 300 drawings including the UF campus, more than 50 restaurants, and natural sites.

You can find all the landmarks featured in the book in this link.

Ho added,The Travelling Canary in Alachua County was a labor of love for our town and county and I’m quite excited to see it finally released into the world.”
