NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) - The Faxon Law Road Race is held on Monday in New Haven.

A prize purse of nearly $40,000 is up for grabs on Labor Day, September 2nd, at New Haven Green.

In a release, officials said it’s one of their best fields, featuring four U.S. Olympians and the women’s course record holder, Kiera D’Amato.

The men’s field is also solid. Colorado’s Woody Kincaid represented the US in the last two Olympics.

“We’re very excited about having many of the country’s top runners compete in New Haven,” said John Tolbert, Elite Athlete Coordinator. “We have very deep Men’s and Women’s race fields. With a cool day, the men’s and women’s 20K American records could be in jeopardy.”

The annual event starts with the Kids Run at 8:10 a.m., followed by the half marathon, 20K, 5K, and half marathon relay at 8:30 a.m.

In total, over 5,000 runners are expected to participate in the event; same-day registrations are not accepted this year, officials said.
