COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – As we look into tonight, there is the chance for a few isolated showers and storms, followed by a better chance for scattered showers and storms on Labor Day.

Following today’s extreme heat and humidity, there is the slim chance for some pop-up showers and storms into the Midlands this evening. Some of these storms could be on the stronger side with brief heavy downpours, lots of lightning, and gusty winds.

A cold front finally pushes into the Carolinas on Labor Day increasing our chance of rain to 50% for the afternoon/evening hours. Afternoon highs will still be very warm in the upper 80s.

Temperatures are set to tumble into the new work week, with highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s Tuesday through Friday.

Then a low pressure system will bring the return of rain towards the end of the work week.

Tonight: A few storms early, otherwise warm and muggy. Lows are in the lower 70s.

Labor Day: Clouds increase with a 50% chance of PM showers and storms, highs in the mid to upper 80s.

Tuesday: Cooler with highs in the lower 80s and limited sunshine. Look for a 20% chance of showers.

Wednesday: Mostly cloudy with a 20% chance of spotty showers. Highs are near 80 into the lower 80s.

Thursday: Rather cloudy with some light showers in spots. Highs in the upper 70s.
