UNION CITY, Tenn. — One person died and another was hospitalized after an early Monday home explosion on Jim Carver Road in Obion County, Sheriff Karl Jackson confirmed.
According to the sheriff, a gas leak in the home led to the explosion. The homeowners, unaware of the leak, lit a candle, which ultimately caused the explosion.
The living victim was taken to an intensive care unit in Memphis for treatment.
The victim's names are being withheld until the family is notified, Jackson said.
