The Clayton Fire Department responded to a house fire on Thursday evening.

A neighbor told WRAL that the house on Michael Way, near the Clayton River Walk on the Neuse Greenway, was a total loss, but everyone, including the pets, got out safely.

Clayton Fire Department's Battalion Chief says they responded quickly to the fire on the right side of a house.

One resident was in the house during the fire, no injuries were reported.

About 15 fire trucks from various departments were on the scene.

The cause remains under investigation.

The chief said he didn't notice any lighting on his way to the scene and couldn't say if it was a potential cause because the investigation is underway.
