AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The tough reality of the looming high school football season is that for many — this will be their last.

Last to suit up in their high school colors or the last time they can turn college coaches’ heads.

That’s a reality for Cross Creek’s Nasan Houston.

He’s already made an impact in the two-state but is ready to take it to the next level.

As the Cross Creek Razorbacks kick off their season later this week, one player is looking to make his presence felt one last time in the CSRA.

“I haven’t really looked into the state or the CSRA sack record, but I’m definitely looking to beat 16.5, definitely looking to beat 42 Tackles. Just be better than I was last season,” said Houston.

Houston dominated the stat sheet last season, racking up 16.5 sacks, 42 tackles and a few turnovers to go with it.

Those numbers quickly turned into phone numbers from colleges wanting Houston to continue his career next year.

It’s been three years since the Greenbrier girls’ volleyball team reached a state title match and came up empty handed.

“I’m actually pretty ready to go be a college athlete. I’ve been pretty pumped about it but coaches have told me to slow down and enjoy my high school career,” he said.

Right now, Houston currently has offers from multiple Division 1 schools like Charleston Southern and Howard University.

Making him the first Razorback football player in four years to receive scholarships from any Division 1 school.

“People look at us like the underdogs, but they would never expect somebody like me from Cross Creek to end up with four offers out of Cross Creek,” said Houston.
