Gran Morsi, named after the Italian word for "bites," epitomizes elegant simplicity. This airy convivial Tribeca restaurant specializes in boldly-flavored Italian fare with a strong focus on small and shared plates, many of which are cooked in our brick oven. This place is a rare gem. We booked Gran Morsi for our small wedding reception.
About the staff. Starting all the way from contacting them, to meeting them, working out the details, and even on our big day: every interaction with staff has been nothing short of exemplary. Everyone was professional, attentive, friendly, punctual. Makes me wish some of my business partners were this responsive...
Regarding the venue itself. It's spacious, lush, beautifully designed but not tacky, customizable: perfect if you want to book for an event. Just look at the pictures. There's plenty of floor space too. Gran Morsi was absolutely willing to work with us in customizing things for our needs. If you're looking for a single table this would make for a great business lunch place, or even for a date!
Regarding the drinks. The bar is great and well stocked. We used a drink menu but based on the bartenders' skill I'm sure they would have no problem making you whatever you want. Drinks were great and were of good size, strength, balance, and flavour. When I think about it, I'm pretty sure their drinks were better than most other places in Manhattan...
Food. The food menu is Mediterranean-themed. There is no shortage of tasty light options, or more meatier and pasta food palettes if you're into that. Nothing was greasy, which tends to be the case for a lot of Italian places. The portions were very good sized. Honestly, it was just right.
I would give them 10/5 if I could. This is most definitely the first place I will contact if we ever need to book a venue in the future. Just talk to them. You will see for yourself.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Kezia O.San Francisco, United States01Aug 10, 2024
About a year ago, I had my birthday event in the restaurant's private room and it was phenomenal! The food was amazing and the guests could not stop raving about it. The staff were very courteous and helped greatly with executing the event. I am truly grateful for their assistance, their flexibility, and ability to step in and resolve the little details I missed. I would definitely recommend having your special event at this restaurant or at the very least, dining there.

My fiancé and I walk a lot when we visit New York City. We decided to treat ourselves to some OTC carb loading with Italian food. I found Gran Morsi on Yelp and was excited by all the photos. We arrived later in the evening and thankfully it wasn't too busy to seat us immediately. This restaurant is very charming. The service is extremely kind. The ambiance is very romantic. I love the dim lighting and plant walls.
Our server kindly went over the different menus. They were a part of a special food week and had a $60 three course option. Unfortunately, we weren't hungry enough to each get that. However, we did end up getting some really yummy dishes. I got the linguine cacio e pepe. The sauce was divine. I haven't have a cacio e pepe that good in a while. I finished every last bite and tried my best not to lick the plate. My fiancé got the carbone pizza. Our server warned him it was spicy. It definitely was, but it was delicious. The honey drizzle really complimented the dish. We had a great time at this restaurant. I'd recommend stopping here for Italian food.Helpful 4Thanks 1Love this 5Oh no 0 - 915771721Aug 24, 20241 check-in
Came here with a larger group and shared a bunch of delicious bites and pizzas.. Crowd favorites included the fried zucchini and the polpette. Tagliatelle was also delicious!
Service was on point and efficient (always refilling our water glasses, food pacing was good, etc) and the interior decor was cute.Helpful 3Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

The food is ok... I got the NY strip and it was alright. The sauce was a bit overpowering. The services were excellent tho.
The only thing we didn't like was it was so so so loud inside. Probably won't go back.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 7, 2024
Great spot on a quiet street. This place has typical Italian fare that is one upped by the ambiance. As long as there isn't a big party, it's a nice spot for an intimate dinner without it being too noisy. Drinks are also pretty spot on.

We arrived at Gran Morsi to celebrate a bday and it certainly superseded our expectations. Staff was extremely courteous and even offered us the best seat in the house to celebrate! The ambience is warm, romantic and inviting.
The tagliatelle and gnocchi dishes were delish. The bolognese sauce didn't skimp on beef and the lamb gnocchi was a first that one me over. Surprisingly, we were most impressed by the kale caesar. In addition to the unique artistic presentation, its probably the best kale caesar I've ever had.
To make the dinner even more special they brought out a celebratory bottle sparkle to sing happy bday accompanied by digestivi to cap the night. Its a bit pricey, but well worth the experience for us.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Feb 14, 2024
Appetizers were wonderful, space was modern and tasteful, service was friendly, but super slow. We only had appetizers and drinks an hour after our seating, that's with reservations.
When our meals finally arrived we had to rush as we had another engagement. I appreciate not being rushed and enjoying my meal, but almost two hours for the main course to arrive was a bit long.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 1 - 1985487770Jan 19, 2024
I came here with two of my friends who also have never been here. We wanted to go somewhere for NYC restaurant week so I found this place and sure glad I did and that we all agreed upon this place.
My friends ordered old fashions which on the menu are called Vecchio Stile which is four roses bourbon, angelis orange liqueur, bitters and smoked cedar as their first drink and then one of them ordered a spicy marg which had milagro tequila, amaretto, orange and calabrian chilies and he liked both of the drinks. I had a Tre Fiore:
empress 1908 gin, prosecco, elderflower, chamomile, lavender, honey, lemon. The service on our drinks were a bit on the slow side.
For food we ordered a margherita pizza to share and my friend and I had the butternut squash soup which had parmigiano-reggiano, sage and pistachio, it was delightful. And other friend had the crudo which was yellowfin tuna, wild salmon, and calabarian chilies and it was crisp. As our mains I had chicken parmigiana that came with chitarra pomodoro. They were all Great portion size and tasty. My other friend had the New York Strip steak which is 14oz, black pepper crusted dish. As a dessert I and my other friend had the Bombolini sundae which was Italian doughnut balls with vanilla gelato and hot chocolate on top. My other friend had the Tiramisu. We also were celebrating a birthday so they brought out a sparkler and also a round of limoncello shots but in non shot glasses. More of an after
dinner drink type glasses. Which was very nice of them.
Staff were very friendly, took my food allergies into consideration. The atmosphere was
chic, though a bit on the noisy side. We had a
great table though for the three of us. It was a round booth in the corner which was
actually right in front of the Morsi sign so made for a great group picture. I am telling all my family and friends about this place. If you find yourself in the area its a must try place!Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 5Oh no 1 - Feb 10, 2024
The place had a lovely, lovely ambience and interior; friendly and attentive staff; and an extensive wine selection (though I only glanced at the wine list briefly).
The food, though, was just alright.
The gnocchi was the best dish of the evening. It was rich and creamy. The lamb and gnocchi were cooked to perfection, but even with the small pieces of squash in the sauce, the flavor profile lacked depth. I found myself wanting something *more* a few bites in.
The salmon was interesting. This was my first time trying saltimbocca, and I wasn't expecting it to be bitter! It wasn't unpleasant, but I likely wouldn't order this dish again.
Fun restaurant, but the food wasn't nearly as good as the service.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
