We've hired HomeShield Pest Control for routine care as we live near a field. Steven came out most recently and did an amazing job. He took time to ensure our cat was placed in a room before spraying the interior and then moved on to the outside while the interior dried. He took time to remove cobwebs and once the inside was good we moved our cat to the living room so he could complete our bedroom. I cannot stand shoes inside and truly appreciate the fact he wore booties at the door. Very respectful of our home and professional. Thank you Steven!

This business flat out sucks. they're not family owned nor are they local and a now old technician of mine told me they would make him drive all the way from San Francisco just to service our property. I was baffled and kind of felt bad for him. I feel like I was was scammed and lied to when me and my roomate first started. But it made sense because technicians would always run late or just not show up and I assume that's because Homeshield forces them to drive 2-3 hours in traffic to service however many houses they have on their list. they set them up for failure and don't even communicate. they just wait for you to call in for an update on arrival time and tell you that the tech won't be servicing.
Don't waste your time, energy or money on this place. I learned my lesson and it was VERY EXPENSIVE while I STILL HAVE BUG ISSUES that were really never resolved.
Lastly, I hope they read these reviews and revise how they go about business because I have neighbors who have seen the truck leave my property and tell me their Homeshield horror stories. One of my neighbors said she paid almost $3,000 for rodent work AND STILL has rodent issues, they won't return her calls, emails or anything else so she gave up. That's just not right and very sneaky of such a prestigious company to do.
But then you find out they have office in LA, Beverly Hills, San Francisco, etc and understand that they clearly care more about higher earning customers than us here which is obvious through their lack of communication, lack of thoroughness, lack of integrity, lack of awareness for individual income, lack of EVERYTHING!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We had our first visit from HomeShield Pest Control on Monday 6/12/23. Our initial concern was with black widows we have been finding in our backyard and garage. Due to our almost 2yrd old who loves to play and explore in the back.
Darian was our technician and he was awesome! He was very thorough and asked if we had any other areas of concern and was able to address them. Darian also explained the products he was using and where. At the end of treatment in and outside the house Darian reported some findings of cockroaches in an irrigation box out front and put a bait in as well as a black widow he found and terminated.
The next couple of days after treatment lots of dead cockroaches and black widows have been scattered about our property, so it's good to know the products are working. Initial service to remove outdoor spiders and to control growing ant problem. Jhair performed the service by removing outdoor spiders on the base and gutters of our home. He also sprayed all the baseboards with a plant-based chemical to control our ant problem. In addition, Jhair placed ant traps in the crawlspace above the laundry room.

I started a draft of a review back in October when I was livid about products applied incorrectly without our permission. I let it go. They called back. They credited. Who has the time for this when it relates to a service that's supposed to help us and I'm going to spend time on a review?! Now I am.
Then today we get a letter postmarked 5.28 saying how they listen to customer feedback about wanting new technology (I've never said that... seems a weird thing to say to your pest company but... ok) and easier billing practices. So - FOR MY CONVENIENCE - they are now billing me $63 per month instead of $119 every two months since we have bi monthly service. There's zero mention of an increase (a 6% increase - well above current inflation). I had to go look at the bank info, figure out the charge. When I checked, I saw they already went ahead and started billing my account their new "improved" fee. This is SHADY. Super sneaky and not transparent. Shame. Now you get my original review with this update. Still. A. One. Star. Passing off a fee INCREASE as a convenience to your customers? Operating in a way that assumes your customers are dumb usually doesn't end well. Taking advantage of most of us being really busy and entrusting you to help us keep our homes safe... not good.
Same vibe as the interactions below - customers are annoying and here for their convenience, apparently to take advantage of and ding our bank accounts whatever amount they like, whenever they like.
Original Review drafted in October:
We've used this company for several years. On multiple occasions after synthetic pesticides were used where we had expressly asked them not to, we are told "your account has been notated". Well, seems we better find a better method. Not only did the technician go ahead and sprinkle long lasting granules of a new product without asking us, he did it incorrectly. Yes, the product is organic but it was applied in areas where we grow food and is not supposed to be. The product was applied in areas where our animals free range. I read the label & the fact sheet. It needs to be watered in to be safe for people and pets or birds to be in contact with. It also kills worms which any gardener knows are critical to good dirt. No one told us it was being applied or that we needed to water it in or that we should be wearing respirators & protective clothing until that was done, according to the fact sheet.
I should not be surprised. The last tech ran out of the stuff that was "notated" on our account and only begrudgingly refilled it when I mentioned that what he was spraying didn't have the wintergreen smell. He also went ahead and sprayed all around the cat bowls & beds before I had a chance to pick them up.
If you're ok with whatever pesticides, wherever the latest tech thinks they need to applied then it's not an issue. If you care about the well being of your pets, take care of your garden, work to maintain soil balance & beneficial insects or eat the eggs that your free ranging chickens produce then this might not be the company for you. (It's not! They don't know or respect any of these things.)
They are really cavalier and don't seem to have any effective means of respecting customer requests. The service rep literally sighed when I shared my concerns. I also got a very condescending "mmm-hmm" from the first person. I was transferred around, told to calm down (isn't that a known thing by now - saying that will not have the desired effect) & that "it's ok because it's organic". Wow. Lots of things are organic that will make people very sick. Not sure anyone at the company actually read the label... when I said I had and it says it's not for use with edibles, that generated the sigh.
I am awaiting a call back from the branch manager. There's no way they can remedy this unless they come vacuum up all of the sesame seed looking poison that they left in the garden beds surrounding our house.
The manager did call. He credited the service and more specifically notated our account. That's the problem with sprinkling poison in the dirt without asking, it's hard to undo.Helpful 1Thanks 2Love this 0Oh no 0 - 03523Jul 21, 2023
Disappointed that they could not get rid of the pests we had in the backyard. They gave us the four weeks, checked in each week, were paid each week and failed to fulfill successful removal of the pest. I definitely would not recommend a pest service that can't get rid of pests. I feel like I just got my money taken and now I have to spend more to find a better company to actually do the job that HomeShield said they would do. Responsive, but now I'm out the money and have to spend more to take care of this issue.

I have had their pest control contract for almost 2 years I also paid almost $2K for their exclusion service in my attic and garage to prevent rodent infestation. My HVAC person recently found a dead rat in my attic . I am also finding bugs inside our house! So on 5/23 I called and asked for the rat to be removed and for them to fix the holes in my attic. They said they would call back with a date, no call. My next call was on 5/29 once again they said they would call back, silence again. I called back on 6/1 and yet again on 6/3 this time they said they would be out in a week on 6/11 between 10am-noon . Well guess what no phone call and no service person has showed up all day. I have called for a explanation/reschedule and it just goes to voicemail. I don't know if they have new owners or what but their service is abysmal/non-existent. Avoid them like the plague don't waste your money.
