Everything was very smooth from ordering to pick-up. It was five-star experience all along. I reached out to Christy via email and received a reply right away. I made the payment through Venmo and specified the size and date of pick-up. Christy then confirmed the payment and sent pick-up instruction. The entire process took about 4 or 5 emails.
We used to go to Yasucochi's sweet shop for coffee crunch cake all those past years. But it's getting hard with the owner there to get the cake due to its business hours. So I decided to give Love Patisserie & More a try after reading great reviews on Yelp.
Regarding the taste of the cake, personally I think this one beats Yasucohi's. The cake itself is more refined and less sweet. We added a dash of coffee liqueur, which made it even better.
Really want to thank Christy for this delicious cake and making the ordering process so easily. We are so glad to find our go-to place for Coffee Crunch Cake.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - 4806354214036Oct 7, 2019
When my co-worker whipped out her 14 INCH knife to cut into Love Patisserie & More's Coffee Crunch Cake, you could hear the satisfying crackly crunch of the honeycomb candy piercing through the blade and the smell of sweet coffee wafting in the air: https://bit.ly/2MioUZS.
First thought: "Mmmmm, this is going to be good!"
Second thought: "Uhhhhh, don't ever piss this lady off!" (My co-worker, that is)
My other co-worker and I decided to get a cake for our boss "just cause" and I remember wanting to buy Love Patisserie & More's Coffee Crunch Cake for another co-worker's birthday but we didn't give enough notice.
So here's the deets:
* Call or email the owner, Christy two days advance to place an order for the Coffee Crunch Cake.
* Two cake flavors are available: Original Coffee Crunch Cake or Matcha Coffee Crunch Cake.
* Two sizes: 7" - $40 or 9" - $50 (includes tax).
* Pay via Venmo.
* Pick-up is at Duc Loi Supermarket which is the address listed on Yelp (grab a bánh mì while you're there).
* FREEEEE parking at Duc Loi's underground garage; entrance is on 18th.
* If you can't eat the cake within the hour of pick-up, put it in the fridge.
Christy made the ordering process easy - she's friendly, super responsive, and even gave a courtesy text once our cake was ready for pick-up.
Ok, so the most important part of the review: THE TASTE.
When my co-worker cut me a 2" wedge, I declined and asked for smaller piece. Then, I decided to take it, eat half, and save the rest for later.
If you know me, than you know that I'm not big on sweets. I only order dessert when eating out; mainly to have a good sampling of the menu.
I ate the ENTIRE wedge in ONE sitting: https://bit.ly/2olaekN!
I LOVEEEEEE Love Patisserie & More's Coffee Crunch Cake! The chiffon cake is sooooo fluffy soft and light (think Chinese sponge cake) and the airy coffee whipped cream just melts in your mouth. The coffee flavored honeycomb candy adds a delicious, melting crunch which is a fantastic contract to the soft cake.
It was so satisfying and no sugar rush/crash afterwards because it's delicately sweet and not heavy. At all.
And, the obvious question: How does it compare to cult favorite Yasukochi's Coffee Crunch Cake?
Compared to Yasukochi's, Love Patisserie's Coffee Crunch Cake is a lot lighter and less sweeter which is my preference.
But, who cares what I think - what did my co-workers think?
Everyone in the team thoroughly enjoyed it and my co-worker took an extra slice we had to the recruitment team.
Later that night, he texted me to tell me that they were fighting over the slice of cake!
The next day at the lobby, someone was hollering my name from afar. One of the guys from recruitment raved about how bomb the cake was and asked where I got it. He then told me that his grandma used to work at the Blum's factory in SF back in the day and the cake reminded him of it.
Now, that's a true testament of just how fantastic Love Patisserie & More's Coffee Crunch Cake is!Helpful 78Thanks 0Love this 80Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you so much for this wonderful review. I do apologize for the time I wasn’t able to deliver the cake due to advance notice needed. I hope I can make many more coffee crunch cake for you and your coworkers in the future. Thank you and Have a great day.

Christy was great. Ordering and pick up went easily and smoothly.
The cake is a light moist yellow sponge with a nice thick, light cream. The toppings were a bit on the sweet sticky side but why 2 stars. For some reason, NO coffee flavor at all. Coffee was accidentally left out? I saved a piece and just tasted the syrup again. NO COFFEE
Without the coffee, it was a melted scorched sugar flavored cake. My husband asked numerous times if I bought a toffee cake by mistake. 7 of us ate this birthday cake and no one tasted any coffee. This was a big disappointment. This cake would have been good if it had ANY coffee flavor.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Hello,
I’m so sorry you didn’t taste much coffee flavor. I usually use light coffee so it doesn’t have a dark color and bitter taste along with less caffeine for those who can’t have too much caffeine like kids, pregnant, etc. I’m sorry my cake didn’t give you the coffee cake flavor you expected in the cake. Happy Birthday to your son and I hope he enjoyed the free birthday sign and candle I tossed in. Thank you for supporting this small business and stay safe.

SO AMAZING.
First off, Christy is the nicest person ever. She's friendly and easy to talk to and when it comes to ordering she replies back really quick so you're not left wondering what's going on.
I originally wanted to get my brother the 9" cake for his birthday, but due to it being short notice on my end Christy was unable to fulfill that request. Instead she offered the 7" since she would be able to finish that by noon like I wanted. I was a bit disappointed, but went for it anyway because I've been watching to try her coffee crumble cake since I've seen reviews online and my brother's birthday was the perfect excuse.
You pick up at the supermarket and there's parking underneath. I didn't know where to go exactly so I just parked on the street and walked half a block which wasn't too bad. I was able to spot Christy out right away due to her purple hair and she was able to bring me my cake right away.
The cake itself was absolutely gorgeous. I'm still not completely sure what the crumble was made of, but it was fun to pick it off the cake and eat. The cake part was perfectly moist and soft with the cream. I was even able to have seconds the next day and it was still soft to eat.
Deeeeefinitely will order from Christy again. Absolutely wonderful transaction and product!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Fancypants X.San Francisco, United States24127136660Dec 4, 2019
I look back on foods from my childhood with a special fondness; the Coffee Crunch Cake that Love Patisserie & More creates bears a striking resemblance to the one my Aunt frequently brought to our family parties (she now brings a homemade chocolate trifle which is just as iconic.)
This Coffee Cake Crunch is sweet on top of sweet which some people may find overwhelming, but for me, it's the definition of the perfect birthday cake. The crunchy, sticky texture of the outside (which reminds me of the honeycomb goodness of a Violet Crumble) envelopes a soft delicious interior.
The ordering process is simple -- email owner Christy a couple days prior to your event, pay via Venmo, set up a time to pick up at Duc Loi Supermarket, & take out of your refrigerator one hour before consuming. $40 for the 7" and $50 for the 9". Definitely order the bigger size especially if you like birthday cake for breakfast the next day (which I definitely do.)Helpful 12Thanks 0Love this 14Oh no 0 - Yingying C.San Francisco, United States973187Jun 16, 2021

10/10. The Coffee Crunch Cake is the best -- Crunchy, sweet, but also still has that coffee flavor. The cake is huge! It feeds more than they estimate in my opinion. I will definitely be back to order a cake.

COFFEE CRUNCH CAKE!! Fluffy moist sponge cake layered with fresh cream and topped with coffee crunchies. The cake is crazy good and now one of my absolute faves! I would seriously eat 2-3 slices at once! Even my mom likes it and she usually doesn't eat cakes in general because it's too sweet for her. Before I only knew of one place in SF that makes coffee crunch cakes, so thank god my friend recommended this new establishment to me.
NOTE: Limited cakes made per day and must PREORDER at least 1 day in advance. I contacted Christy through email to place my order and she responded very quick, in a few hours. Ordering process was simple, she was very friendly and easy to work with!

I threw a surprise birthday party for someone special and Christy just so happened to have an extra Coffee Crunch cake for me to order last minute: only one day prior to the event! The funny part was that all my family members remembered the cake from my own birthday party and expressed their excitement to me. Even funnier was when I tried to take an empty plate from a friend and she said she wasn't done with the cake. There were only 2 small pieces of Crunch candy on her plate!! Haha
The famous Coffee Crunch Cake is probably the fluffiest and moistest cake I ever had at about 60% sweetness on the inside which allows you to enjoy more of and Candy Heaven on the outside where I want to savor each Coffee Crunch Candy piece and just eat it all day!
The fat kid inside me said that I should've cut smaller portions for everyone, so I could've saved more more cake for the next day. I also kind of wished I didn't offer cake for anyone to bring home, but what kind of host would I be? Lessons learned. Lol.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0
