The Lock & Key Tapas + Bar

Wonderful service! From the bar and the server Anna was absolutely fantastic! The chicken taco was freaking great!! Rob was a great bartender as well!! So I would recommend this place to anyone in the area..​​​​

Came in for brunch today, and had a great experience. Staff was friendly, liked the vibe, everything was clean.

Ordered the beignets with raspberry sauce (crazy good), steak sandwiches (wasn't the sauce I would have expecting but I loved it. Got us out of our comfort zone) and the breakfast sandwich was good. I was surprised with the potatoes. Most places just quick cook them and they are either burnt or bland, but not these.

This was our 2nd time coming and there will definitely be a 3rd.

I came for a friend's birthday during happy hour, and we ordered a round of tapas and drinks for our table of four. The service was lackluster and the food was decent at best.

We ordered the kale chopped salad, coastal ceviche, arancini, and patatas bravas. Menu descriptions sounded more appealing than the plates we were served. I was most excited for the coastal ceviche, but felt let down with the lack of fish throughout. The arancini was a pleasant surprise and the only tapa that I'd recommend.

The atmosphere was quiet and intimate and might be a better fit for a different occasion other than a birthday celebration. Overall, lots of potential, but there's better options nearby.

We saw on Yelp they were open for business at 2pm, Friday. We drove here from Elk Grove. Found parking up front and went to line up at the parking machine thing, which was directly in front of the restaurant. There was a guy ahead of us paying, so while we waited, I went up to the door and saw it was closed! I told my husband and we're both like, what? and the guy heard us and he said something in a disappointed tone. I asked, "were you going there too?" And he was like "yeah"...and I go, "did you pay already?" And he was like, "yeah".
He had just finished paying too.

Hubby gave the door a tug, and yeah it was closed.

The guy ended up going to the bar next door. Hubby walked down the block further to see if maybe there was another spot to eat but everything was closed.
We ended up leaving.
Thankfully we didn't pay for the parking.

Last night I met up with two friends for dinner and cocktails. I was excited to see what this place had to offer as the cocktails from photos as well as food looked delicious.

Upon arriving I was met by my friends who were already sipping their first order of cocktails at the bar and they had told me they already ordered chicken wings and pork belly. The initial spirits were high as we asked if we could move to a booth so I decided to wait to order a drink. After moving we were met with pretty much no service.

Fifteen minutes later the pork belly is dropped off. We ask for plates. Ten minutes later the chicken wings are dropped off, so we ask for two cocktails and water. Another 15 minutes go by and a new server comes over to take our drink order. We tell her we already ordered a long time ago, so she comes back in 10 minutes with drinks in hand. One water for the table. She drops everything off and walks away. Another ten minutes go by before I have to flag someone down to get a menu and ask for two additional waters. We sat for another thirty minutes before making the decision that we would not be receiving any type of service at this location. The gal at the bar finally made eye contact, came over and we told her we would like the check.

There were maybe 6-7 people on the floor working when we were there. The space wasn't so packed that service couldn't have been provided to our table.

In all - we had an amazing dinner and drinks a few doors down where we were provided with excellent service.

Sad to say - none of us will be back.

Also, the AC does not seem to work at this location. The restaurant before had the same issue.

Went during happy hour. The decor and place itself passed the vibe check. Located right next to Barwest. It was pretty empty at 4pm and we sat at the bar. Drinks are good. We ordered some apps and they were actually really good, specifically the sliders and Fideo. Will come back to try more drinks.

Me and a couple friends went to go check out the cigar lounge/patio that just opened in lock and key. The bartenders are phenomenal and very friendly. The drinks were delicious and have a great selection of alcohol. The is plenty of seating and great place to have a nice cigar. You have to bring your own cigars to smoke. But the ambiance is great and very pleasant.

I came here tonight to celebrate late night since I seen on their website they had late night happy hour options for food and drinks. I drove from a different city in hopes of having a good night out, but I was wrong. The bartender said there was no food available as he was the "only one working tonight" so it's drinks only. Why advertise that as a restaurant you have late night Happy Hour for House Tapas Tuesday-Friday from 10-12 if you actually don't? Don't recommend coming here if you're basing your time off of their online menus.

Came in here on a quiet Sunday evening. Literally no one was in there. After about 30 mins of being there ppl began to show up. Kayla was working the bar and was very nice and a cool person to talk to. The food was great! Ordered ceviche, pork belly and chili Lime wings. The chili lime sauce inspired me to go create my own. Their house ranch is special. The fish ceviche is fresh and did not need any like
Or anything added. The fresh homemade chips were really Good as well. The pork belly was nice and crispy and the chili like sauce made even more delicious. Definitely a nice date night spot or happy hour spot!

On a date night, my husband and I decided to come try the lock and key tapas bar. Despite coming on a Saturday night, it was fairly empty. I was pretty disappointed with the initial lack of service - after being seated, it took almost 15 minutes for our server to acknowledge us and come get our drink order. I'm not sure if it was miscommunication or what.

That initial hiccup aside, the drinks and tapas themselves were quite tasty. For my beverages, I started with the "Don't Worry Key" and finished with the "Lock Smith Mule". Both were tasty and refreshing.

For our meal, we decided to try the patatas bravas, scallops, pork belly, and the arancini. Everything we tried was extremely tasty and what you would hope for from a tapas bar.

All in all, I would definitely come back and I hope to see some seasonal rotation to the tapas menu.
