Convenient.

Seemed pretty safe. I would definitely park here again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Oct 5, 2023Updated review
Parked here the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Location of this garage is world class as it is located right in the middle of Union Square with 4 floors below ground. Parking garage is owned by SFMTA and they feature license plate readers upon entering and exiting the garage.
The ramps inside the garage are well graded so there were no troubles bringing in a sports car into the garage although the garage is extremely tight when going up and down the levels.
There is an odd urine smell throughout the garage and the garage itself just feels grimey...might be a good place to wear a disposable mask and gloves.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Nov 24, 2022Previous reviewParked here the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Entrance and exits are clearly marked and pricing is different based upon the hour at this SFMTA garage. The garage also features an automated license plate reader which makes the manual ticket superfluous.
The garage itself is clean although the garage smelled like urine. Might be a good idea to don a mask and latex gloves when walking around the garage.
The drive lanes are tighter, in line with big city garages and some spaces are pretty tight. They are pay stations before riding the elevators back down to the garage.Oct 5, 2019Previous reviewCame by the other day while spending some time in the city. One of the entrances were closed off making access a touch challenging.
The garage seems to be under construction making some of the garage off limits. Their spaces are a touch tight too!

NO SECURITY CAMERAS IN A "SECURE" PARKING GARAGE!!!
This parking garage is not safe to park in. I went on a Thursday night to have dinner at the Cheesecake Factory across the street and came back to my friend's car windows completely smashed. We were about 50 yards from the "security" booth and they didn't see or hear anything. They also claimed to not have any security cameras in the facility when I could see at least 3 from the security office. We paid $16 to Park and were told we could not get refunded since we already paid the ticket before going back to our car (as you are supposed to do). If you think you will be safe parking here, please think again as the security guard himself says "This happens here all the time by professionals". For $16 for two hours of parking, you would think this place could afford an abundance of cameras to protect those who are paying to not park on the streets where this kind of activity is expected.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Dec 27, 2023
Honestly if not for the smell of urine, this garage would be a five out of five stars. It's easy to navigate, reasonably priced, and the location directly below Union Square cannot be beat. I just tied bags around my shoes so I wouldn't bring the smell/grime back into my car... The workers there are also super accommodating and helpful, props to them for helping us out when we got a flat tire (unrelated to parking here)!

Really sketchy to park here. I only left my car there for less than half an hour and when I came back, a worker or someone with uniform was looking in my car from all windows. Before I approached my car I locked it so he can know we were back. He got caught and just kept saying "I really like your car I've never seen one like it before" but we were in a regular black sedan nothing fancy.

Good place for parking at union square. Everything is automated and there are plenty of spaces in the underground. A lot of the spots are small and it's a little tight in space but it's the place I would go to.

I love/hate this garage. $36 for parking. $36. All day everyday. I hate how when we drive up/ and down the structure everything feels small.
Yet this garage is closest to my 2 biggest stores, because it's in walking distance. So I go to this one by design. Plus I feel like this garage is better than the White House garage.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 1 - 76512636009Apr 14, 2020
Three level city garage whose location couldn't be more convenient with everything Union Square has to offer right at your feet but with an ominous feeling I can never shake once I drive inside.
Is it the low ceilings, insufficient lighting and blood red paint on the support pillars and railings? Is it all the warnings not to leave packages or anything of value in your car's interior?
(This garage was ahead of the curve and had this signage years ago.)
Dynamic pricing means if you're lucky enough to arrive during shoulder times, you can get out for $2 an hour. Prime time hours are $6 an hour, still a "good deal" given its location.
Do yourself a favor and snap a photo of where your car is: It's not a huge garage but every angle and floor starts to melt together in your mind and you're lost.Helpful 20Thanks 0Love this 16Oh no 1 - 28319871910Jan 31, 2021
Typically I park at the Sutter Stockton Street garage if I'm downtown. However there was a power outage last Friday and I was advised to park at the Union Square garage instead.
So I made an illegal U turn and headed south on Stockton St and drove two blocks to the Union Square garage.
As I'm driving into the garage entrance I noticed as a sandwich board "Early Bird $15.00". I pulled into the garage around 8:15am. I'm hoping I'm an early bird.
I returned to the garage around 11:45am. You've got to pay before going back to your vehicle. I slipped my parking ticket into the machine. $15.00 is what I owe. Otherwise it's $4.00 an hour between 9am-5pm.
It wasn't much of a savings for the time I parked. I still prefer the Sutter Stockton garage which is wider and has better lighting & isn't as dark and gloomy.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0
