Bloss’s 4-star review:
Great night out at Discovery Times Square! I didn't even know this place existed, so big shout out to Ruggy for putting me on to it. This is a great space for exhibits, not too big and not to small, and after the third exhibit I had had just about all the learning one can take for a day, so well done Discovery. Staff were great at each exhibit and did a good job of answering questions and explaining the rules (There's a lot of Rules!!!!)
The Body Worlds exhibit - fascinating exhibit showcasing just about every nook and cranny of the human body... sans skin. There were men, there were women, there were babies, there was even a horse. All without skin and there for you to peruse what YOU look like undressed from your largest organ. Really interesting was how they presented arteries, the vascular system and a lot of other nitty gritty stuff we forget we have. Some of the bodies were presented in artistic ways and other were more straight forward. Definitely a cool experience to be in a museum looking at yourself basically; reminded me of the original Plant of the Apes a little bit. I could have done without the babies, but hey, I'm a softy. There was a bombardment of health nazi stuff (smoking, being a fatty, ect....) throughout the exhibit which I could have done without, not because I'm not on board, but I'm more of a show me the smokers lung next to the regular lung and I think I get the point; I don't need a movie and all the placards to hit me over the head with it.
The Art of the Brick exhibit by Nathan Sawaya was a fun exhibit. The video introducing the artist was a little nauseating, I gotta be honest. But nobody's perfect, and the man does cool things with legos. This exhibit is sure to be a crowd pleaser for the whole group.
The Shipwreck exhibit was ok; perhaps more interesting to someone who's into pirates and such. The wind tunnel was a cool interactive display, and some of the old stuff dredged up from the ocean was neat to see as well.
Thanks Ruggy for a great night out at Discovery Times Square!
