Miriam’s 5-star review: I don't love Le Beau simply because it's an easy walk from my homeshed. I love it because they carry my favorite yogurt, have fresh basil, a good assortment of bread, and so much more than one might expect out of a neighborhood shop of this size. It gives me great comfort to know Le Beau is just blocks away. Easy weeknight dinner for 1: Half chicken Fresh sugar snap peas, red bell pepper, and broccoli to make a stir-fry A small packet of crisps to tide you over while cooking -
Miriam’s 5-star review: I actually enjoy going to the Trader Joe's. Always a space to park, and never too crowded inside, I can actually shop in a bit of peace, especially when I go in the morning. MUCH better than the 9th Street store, which is absolute lunacy basically all the time. WARNING: Because this is a small store they have often run out of things if you shop on Sunday or Monday. A crew member toldme mid-week is best for maximum selection. -
Miriam’s 4-star review: Where else can you find kabocha squash, sesame paste and dashi all under one roof? The staff here are very helpful, on my last visit two different folks helped me find what I was looking for, even when it required some serious searching. -
Miriam’s 4-star review: Selection of bulk, dry goods is phenomenal. Need some obscure spice but don't want to shell out for a whole jar? Buy a couple of teaspoons here! From cream of tartar to organic flour and cinnamon sticks- this is heaven for any epicurean. However, as a dedicated Alemany farmers market shopper, it is hard to get excited about the produce here. -
Miriam’s 4-star review: I think there might be a connection between this market and Axum Cafe, as there seems to be a lot of movement between the two and similar faces as well. This spot will help you out in a pinch, be it for cookies or lemonade or water or even, chicken broth! -
Miriam’s 4-star review: Excellent spot to load up on epicurean delights such as Ben & Jerry's Marsha Marsha Marsha, potato chips and Dr. Pepper for a Blockbuster night (if you're watching DVDs in the Marina, that is. I, for one, like watching DVDs in the Marina. . .) Not such a hot spot for a deli sandwich though. Mine was mediocre at best. Skip the deli and go straight for the good stuff!

Miriam’s 4-star review: This has got to be the cleanest, nicest Safeway in the land. The prepared food even looks appetizing! The staff are friendly and helpful! All this makes for a very pleasant shopping experience. I wish I lived closer!

Miriam’s 3-star review: Snagged the last two packages of organic powdered sugar on the shelf and a quart of milk here tonight in order to execute a serious batch of old-fashioned chocolate cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting. Cost me $10. Such is the price for convenience, I suppose. -
Miriam’s 3-star review: No experience with buying produce here, but the guy I see most often at the counter is very friendly and helped me find the right phone card for an international call. It did the job and cost only $5. -
Miriam’s 1-star review: This has got to be the most depressing grocery store I have ever been to in my life. The last time I went thinking I'd actually find what I needed for a dinner party I came home ready to throw in the towel. Once I talked myself down, I promised I'd never return for more than an item or two. Then I laid down for a long nap to regain the energy this horrible Safeway had sucked out of me seemingly with one of those fat bubble tea straws.
