    Hi Yelpers--

I'm looking for a good Japanese bakery (preferably in SF) that sells mochi for a New Year's celebration.  Any recommendations?  Thanks!

I think pretty much any Japanese market will have fresh mochi (or kagami mochi) at this time of year.  Just make sure to check when the store is open because New Years is a big holiday in Japan and some stores might be closed before NYE.

If you are adventurous...I can give you a recipe to make Mochi's from scratch -- well..you don't need to pound the rice though.  Let me know...
