The dyson slim: high-tech, sleek, sexy, never loses suction. A gay man's dream.
Not so much. After 60 days, the motor burned out. Uh, wait, no suction now. It gets better. The 5 year warranty only covers replacement of the motor once. Even better, the guy at the repair shop says he has had them come back twice with burnt out motors.
Should an expensive, high-end vacuum die so quickly? The dyson slim sucks!
p.s. It took dyson 2.5 weeks to send the replacement motor.5/16/2008 -

A product is no longer high-end when it's available at Wal-Mart.

Damn Kevin, that really sucks. Er... or not. (alarming, because my wife insisted we get one, even though she's used it once in the year or so we've had it.)

I got myself a vintage Kirby for $10. All metal construction, built in the early 80's and it's still ticking.

Dude, Kirby's are HEAVY. But my parents still have one from the 80s, and it's running great still. Just don't lug it up and down stairs.
And this thread saddens me... I've been wanting a Dyson Animal for awhile now. :(5/16/2008 -

Yeah the Kirby has a cool cast aluminum base which looks really retro, but it is heavy. It lives upstairs because our downstairs is all hardwood.

We have had the "original" yellow dyson since 04. Still works great. Surprised to hear that the Dyson Slim is giving you so much trouble. Where did you get it from? Can you still return/exchange it?

My dyson is great after ALL the dog hair. I think you got unlucky or the slim still has kinks in it, like all the FJ Cruiser toyota makes. I think the Fj Cruiser looks like a dyson vaccum.
