It is a company that has no morals or ethics and has NO BUSINESS IN THE VACATION RENTAL INDUSTRY.
This was our first and last experience with them. Let me explain our findings and experience.
We had rented a two bedroom beach front flat in 9116 Shorefront Parkway Rockaway Beach, NY.
The building was 7 years old and in good condition. It had a security code required entrance which we were pleased with.
When we entered our unit we were immediately disappointed. The size and layout of the unit was fine.
The view facing the beach would have been spectacular had you been able to see out of the dirt covered windows. Don't believe I have seen windows this dirty and obscured in my entire life.
The unit had NOT been cleaned. The floor was filthy as it appeared it had NOT been swept or mopped in months. Light fixtures did not work. The kitchen had dirty dishes in the sink, and there were used eggs with broken egg shells in the refrigerator. There was food left in the freezer and refrigerator.
Dirty dishes on the kitchen counters, linen found in clothes dryer. Not enough linen or towels for our family of three. There were only two bath towels that we could find anywhere and no hand towels or wash cloths.
The limited furniture looked like it was purchased one at a time from a yard sale as none on it matched and was sturdy enough for perhaps kindergartners; the one piece of artwork was defaced as someone had placed a sticker on the face of the portrait. The furniture was filthy as well; lucky we were not in the unit for much of the time.
The plastic chairs out on the deck were covered in dirt, we wanted to clean them but there were no towels in the unit besides the only two bath towels.
We immediately contacted the Owner of the property "Ben" which is identified by Air BNB as the "Host". My wife had explained to him the condition we had found the unit. Ben apologized and stated he would refund us $60.00 which was the cleaning fee and would contact AIR BNB.
When we returned from our trip we contacted Air B n B to request our refund as authorized from the "Host" property owner BEN.
Air BNB had told us that they could not provide us with a refund or a credit.
So we called Ben the host and advised him that Air B n B would not refund the cleaning fee, so we had asked him if he could send us a check directly. He became very defensive and stated that I should not have rented his property in the first place.
So as you can see neither Air BNB nor its "Host" property owner's give a damn about quality assurance.
My wife and I own a few vacation rental properties ourselves and they are managed my very reputable and honest property management companies. AIR BNB is NOT and would NOT Recommend using their services.6/5/2015 -

So... you own a few vacation rentals properties, and instead of working through them or another rental property company, you decided to go through AirBnB....

That's very unfortunate that happened. Were all the reviews you read on the place positive? I usually check reviews and experiences before choosing a place on AirBnB. I haven't had any issues with my AirBnB stays yet, but I've only chosen places with overwhelmingly positive reviews.

Maybe I'll do the one in Africa overlooking the elephant sanctuary. Seems worth the travel vaccinations......6/5/2015 -
