I hate doing laundry because the closest place is super tiny, always crowded with the rudest people with wild unruly kids. People do 10 loads at a time so all the machines are busy and they take over the table. It's really so very unpleasant that most of the time I sit outside. Once I had to repeatedly tell a drunk guy to leave my clothes alone...he would have walked off with them in his stupor!!

yeah, I've tried that, but I have a very keen sense of smell, and that rubber smell really bugs me.  And I always imagine my dishes will smell like that too if I use them (irrational).

I consider a dishwasher necessary. i like that they get the dishes super hot and make them cleaner than i could.

  2. I'm thinking of getting one of these mini washing machines for my apartment:

    sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_…

I actually don't mind doing laundry. I'd just rather do a small load every other day instead of 4 on the weekends, especially if I have to queue up for the measly 2 machines we have for over 60 apartments.

    cleaning hardwood floors.
my stupid hardwood floor cleaner thingie is so incredibly uncooperative....it would be easier to push a 500lb man down the grocery store candy aisle.

  3. I enjoy cleaning and household "chores." Vacuuming is one of my favorite things; I love having clean floors.

I'd say that dusting (because of allergies and sneezing) and anything involving mold are my least favorites.

When I used to live with roommates back in college I'd go through the refrigerator every so often to throw out all the rotten food. It wasn't so bad it it was in a bag and I could just toss the whole thing. But if it was in a dish bowl it was so gross having to touch the moldy food (not to mention the smell).

Not just the toilet, but cleaning around it, especially when it is in a tight corner.

It is like my head is in the bowl as I try to clean around it.  Hate that.

  4. I never iron anymore. It's scandalous. I just smooth out the wrinkles as best I can with my hands. I'm sure the other parents at school think I'm a terribly mom. Lulz.

I have a mini dishwasher and I hate it and I hate doing dishes.

I also do not like vacuuming but that's more because my vacuum sucks (or rather, barely sucks) and I feel like I'm working hard and getting nothing done. Also, my house feels like it's half steps, half rugs that slide around and get the corners stuck in the vacuum. If the house is all/mostly carpet and has no steps, it's lots easier.

I don't mind household chores.  I just need to set myself in the frame of mind to do it.  If it's a gorgeous, sunny day outside,  forget it!  When we moved to our place it was the first time since living with my parents that we had our own washer and dryer!  I was more excited about that than anything else in the house. Still the best thing ever!

I used to despise unloading the silverware from the dishwasher as a kid. It was one of the easiest chores, too.

  6. I shared this on another thread months ago, but it's gross enough to warrant retelling.

When I moved into my current apartment, it had previously been occuped for over 40 years by the same tenant...an elderly man who toward the end had become a hoarder and was living in filth. After he died, the building owner gutted the apartment so everything was brand-new and sparkling for me when I moved in...EXCEPT FOR THE TOILET.

Mere brushes didn't work on this toilet. I had use sandpaper to scrape the decades of grime and crusted fecal matter out of the bowl. It took a good 10 minutes and a couple of sheets of sandpaper. I had a few shots first then psyched myself out so that I was mentally somewhere else as I was working.

    *GAG*

I don't even own an iron.  I do a few things.  I either hang all of my stuff up as soon as it gets out of the dryer, or if my stuff is wrinkly, I toss it in the dryer with a wet towel for about 5 minutes.

When I used to go to a laundromat, I'd lay all of my clothes flat on a towel, and roll it like a burrito to keep everything flat until I got home.
