24-7 Rooter & Plumbing

After having some excellent work and service from this team (see my earlier review about Sam, who unfortunately left the company), I hired them again, but things didn't go as well. In short: repeated, expensive miscommunication and sloppy work.

The plan was to reroute the drains for a bathroom to allow a future renovation. Their estimate was competitive with that from another plumber, so I agreed to proceed even without Sam. Only after doing all the work and preparing for inspection did they realize that they rerouted only the toilet, and not the tub or sink. (Issue number 1.) That toilet also just happened to back up shortly thereafter - and into the ceiling below! (Issue number 2.) Some testing could have avoided both these problems. Thinking that a flat fee would cover me for troubleshooting the sewage-into-ceiling problem, which seemed awfully coincidental after rerouting the toilet line, I agreed to have them solve that problem. Turns out, they were charging me by the hour - which I only discovered after the plumber finished (issue 3). Because the rate was reasonable I decided not to protest - even after we had a similar miscommunication the very next day (issue 4). At this point I was a little on edge, but I didn't hold their mistakes against them since the prices were reasonable, including a low estimate to reroute the tub and drain as originally desired. When I insisted that it must pass inspection they gave me a 75% higher estimate, which I accepted since I didn't want surprises and I still trusted them when they said they were confident they would pass inspection. The estimate included some unusual wording about them not being "responsible for mystery vents" which didn't seem relevant anyway since the "mystery vents" the plumber mentioned weren't involved in the work. They did the work but failed inspection - and the plumber seemed not to understand why he failed or how to pass. (He also left an assortment of incompletion and messes in my house, including hardened solder puddles and flux stains on the carpet, patio, garage floor, and driveway, two varieties of dirt splatter on the walls, a large gap allowing daylight and outdoor air directly into the house around the sewer pipe, and a clogged shop vac - he used mine not his (issues 4-6)). Anyway, the work failed inspection due to venting, which they then said was excluded by their language about mystery vents (issue 7). I clearly didn't trust them at this point, but I asked them for a venting estimate anyway, which they gave at $2400. I asked another plumber for an estimate which was for $1685 for the same work; it was an easy decision to go with the other guys, who turned out to be consummately professional. While the other plumber was there, I asked him to sanity check the price for the work from 24/7, and he said they'd have done the same work for some 30% less. (issue 8) After all this, I called 24/7 to pay my final balance and informed them of my issues with inspection and price. They have a "100% customer satisfaction guarantee" and I wanted to give them a chance to honor it by matching the price of their competitor, or even their own non-inspection estimate. They declined. I asked again: are you sure you want to take full payment and have an unsatisfied customer? They again declined. That's why you're reading this review.

The service was great! Mike was very efficient and was able to fix our clogging issue quickly. We would recommend 24-7 Rooter & Plumbing.

We called 24-7 Rooter & Plumber before for minor clogs in our unit but this was the first time that we called them for something major. One of the laundry rooms in our building's common area completely flooded the second floor of our building and through to the ground floor commercial unit. We called them to get an emergency plumber onsite ASAP. The plumber identified the issue and afterwards we met with another team to perform a complete remediation. They were highly professional, prompt and patient. They provided me with important details that helped us understand the underlying causes, etc. I was impressed with their modern equipment and completely thorough process and documentation.

The process was not without stress but I was happy with their work overall. Highly recommend.

24-7 Rooter & Plumbing was readily available and handled my needs with urgency and scheduled a technician immediately.

I have a European style toilet and they were able to understand the workings around it.

The technicians were very professional made sure to put shoe covers over their boots before they entered my home.

Overall, I rate my experience a 10/10!

They answer the phone 24-7. This does not mean they will actually provide you a service 24-7.

Called at 11pm for a toilet that wouldn't stop filling up (albeit slowly), and risked overflowing/flooding our bathroom. Spoke to Shelby (who was lovely; this review has nothing to do with her), who explained they'd get a call out, I should be contacted by a plumber in roughly 45min to an hour.

No call.

Call back at 12:30am. Shelby again. Apologetic, sends the request out again, emphasizes that it's urgent.

No call.

2:30am, exhausted, freaked out about our toilet, frustrated by the lack of response, we call again. We get Nia. Same drill. Asked to clarify what a realistic timeline should be, just in case we misunderstood something earlier. "Well, you would typically get a phone call about an hour later."

THREE AND A HALF HOURS LATER, we never received a phone call. Nothing. We gave you two phone numbers and plenty of time. I think we were more than patient. So now, if we're lucky, we will be taking naps, waking every other hour to go drain a toilet bowl, and calling a professional, RELIABLE plumber first thing in the morning, but honestly, I doubt I can sleep at this point. You didn't just waste our time, you messed with our sleep. Do you know how hard it is to recover from what is essentially an "all-nighter"?! Unforgivable, and unprofessional.

And please, spare me your nonsense copy-and-paste apology. It means absolutely nothing. You can't give me my time back. You can't magically free up my schedule so we can get that sleep back. I doubt I'll even nap, I'm probably looking at staying up all night until 8am when I can call someone else. I am sleep-deprived, cranky, and salty as hell at this point. The only thing I can do is tell people to go ANYWHERE else. You lie about the services you provide, and people need to know that.

I hope you step on Lego bricks barefoot every day for eternity.

Rather than trying to sell me for something that I might need they were honest with me about what the situation would look like, which is what I appreciate. You know that a place is good when they would rather be honest and help you save money to make money themselves, I couldn't recommend this place more. They care for their clients and potential clients

David arrived on time and clearly knew his stuff. As I asked questions, he responded with just the right amount of explanation so that in the future I could continue the maintenance myself. He also recommended maintenance that would save money. I would say he was efficient, a master of his craft and helpful.

I was able to schedule an appointment the same day and got my plumbing issue squared away immediately.
