I guess I can only speak for level 3J, but this parking garage definitely smells like a fine blend of weed and pee... and as far as SF smells go, that's nowhere near the bottom rung on the nose-breather's ladder.
In fact, that's actually a rather luxurious meritage of sniffs here... especially considering it's a parking garage. I should also mention that the elevators, surprisingly enough, smelled pretty pristine.
All around, the parking spaces here are so small that it actually took me until the 3rd floor before I realized they weren't just for motorcycle parking.
To be fair, a lot of the spaces appear to be meant for compact cars. I know this because the parking garage actually went to the trouble of painting the word 'compact' on each of these spaces, though it seems that 0% of the SUV-driving population took that to heart since they all decided that it was an opportunity to take up 2 spaces.
The signage in here for finding the exits and elevators isn't so grand. As I walked around I noticed that quite a few of the signs are actually displayed backwards, at least on the 3rd floor, but it's hard to argue with any of the negs here because there really aren't all that many affordable parking options in the area. In fact this was actually the 3rd parking structure I'd tried to go to, since the first 2 that were closer to my destination were completely full and no longer accepting new cars.
When I went to pay I was expecting something at least a tad outrageous, but it was actually well within my budget- surprisingly so. I'm sure the daytime prices are up there, but the evening hours are pretty great all things considered.Helpful 16Thanks 0Love this 20Oh no 0 - 15 Mar 2024Updated review
Came by the other day and it was a decent experience. Fifth and Mission is a SFMTA garage that takes transit cards. The entire garage is fully automated.
Parking is available both above the ground as well as below ground at ~$4-5/hour.
Market street and the Powell transit station is merely walking distance away.
Parking spaces are rather small so it's better to bring subcompact cars!Helpful 7Thanks 1Love this 3Oh no 09 Jun 2022Previous reviewCame by the other day and it was a lackluster experience. Arrived shortly before lunch on a weekday and noticed that the top floor of the garage was closed off.
In addition, the signs showing the number of available spaces on each level was also non-operational.
Upon entry, the ticket from the machine already includes the license plate from the vehicle used to pull the ticket...
Parking spaces are pretty tight so it's best to bring a compact car.
The payment station on the street level by the stairs was unable to read my ticket at both machines. As there was no employee behind the counter, I tested my luck paying for my parking at the exit stand.
Luckily the exit stand terminal was able to read my ticket, take my credit card payment, and issue me a receipt. An employee also asked from afar if I needed help!
~$5/hour weekday daytime parking rates.2 Dec 2018Previous reviewCame by the other day to eat in the Financial District and parking here made the rest of the journey into SF more peaceful! Came on a Saturday morning, and the signage showing spaces available was non-operational...
Managed to find a spot towards the top, next to the stairs! ...if only the signage was in use!
Rates are competitive with ~$3/hour before noon and ~$4/hour after noon. Self-parking seems to be the only option here too!
Remember to pay on the street level prior to hoping on the elevator! - 20 Dec 2023
Again, it's been a long time since I've parked here as my office is only three blocks from my office.
A Yelp event loooong blocks in the other direction brought me here on a Thursday late afternoon. Knowing the event would last several hours, it made sense to park here. Knowing the layout, I made a point to find a space towards the east side on the 2nd floor to reduce the distance to my destination. I found a convenient set of stairs and was on the street in minutes.
The floor was a little more than half full, definitely not normal during the holiday season. I guess the decline of the Westfield Mall across the street is a big reason for this; in my childhood days, this place would be packed with Christmas shoppers going to the Emporium or variety of department stores and shops including Woolworths on Market Street.
Remember to bring your parking ticket as this is one of many lots that have self-pay stations along the various ground floor entrances and lobbies. I paid at the east lobby ()https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=GO5zrm4YZL24Vlz48AzaTA&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q and walked the stairs to my car. The rates are in line with the City these days at $21'for 3+;hours.
Easy peasy with the minor questioning of where I parked my car due to the size of the lot. Will be back if going to businesses in the neighborhood especially at night.Helpful 9Thanks 4Love this 10Oh no 0 - 1 May 2023
I've been parking at this garage a lot more often recently. It's got a lot more room, and very close to where I need to be.
However, I need to park at O'farrell Garage now, because that's where I ran into Charles Barkley 1 year ago!
Hopefully I can run into Shaq next time!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 3 - 21 Dec 2023
Got dirtier thru the years and more break ins as time go by. It is convenient to the westfield center and all - but with all business going out of business in sf, does it make sense to charge $5-6/hour? It's just going to chase more people away...sigh. Will use when i absolutely need to but price wise, i mind as well valet at a hotel when validated.

Lots of parking spaces, convenient location, safe enough for the most part and reasonably priced.

Rates aren't too bad either. - 21 Jan 2023Updated review
Very likely your car will be broken into. The garage is covered with disclaimers, but here there's a really good chance you'll have to deal with one of those we're not responsible messages.
Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 116 Sept 2022Previous reviewI used to love parking here. Super convenient for the movie theater and it used to be reasonably priced. Now it is one of the most expensive places in San Francisco to park. The chance of getting your car broken into, I would say roughly 75%. The corner outside this parking garage can be a bit scary.
11 Mar 2022Previous reviewAfter they reopened the basement they increased the price. It is no longer practical to park here and, for example, go to the movies. A 2-hour movie will cost you about $18 to park. Take BART and cause this garage to go out of business.
19 Oct 2019Previous reviewThis used to be a good place to park. Now it's a nightmare. they've closed off entire floors. When you get inside you find tons of reserved parking spaces. What used to be an easy and convenient parking area for downtown is now the worst in the city.
4 Jun 2011Previous reviewVery convenient. Always park in the basement. Easy to find a space. Easy to re-find your car.
EXTREMELY expensive. Price has doubled.
Death-defying crosswalks to escape the garage.
Occasional car break-ins.
Very clean and convenient bathrooms for garage customers. - Andrew A.Sunnyvale, United States01121713 Nov 2023
It's a little sketchy, but parking was a good price and we were able to easily find a spot. We parked here for a concert at The Warfield which ended at about midnight and our car was safe and sound.

Three stars for a place that has five star prices downtown. This garage always has plenty of space, and because it's run by the city, the prices are probably the cheapest you're going to find outside of spothero.
But in some ways it is a rip off because they round up your time if you try to leave 15min before your next hour forcing you to pay an additional 4 to $6 for a full hour you didn't use. So if you show up 45 minutes into your final hour, be ready to pay for the full additional hour. There's no prorating.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 20 Mar 2021
Average parking garage. It can get a little confusing since there is only one entrance and a few exits. The computer payment system is good. The location is very good near the mascone center. Inside some of the parking spaces are very small or not clearly outlined so people crowd or block spaces. Prices are reasonable.
