I stayed here during a work trip and I have no complaints! The room was quaint and clean, wi-fi was adequate, and the balcony view of the inner harbour was beautiful. Love the king bed.
I went to the pool every night -- unfortunately no sauna or hot tub.. and also unfortunately the gym was renovating when I went.
Staff provided a microwave at my request -- much appreciated!
My only complaint is the water in the shower felt quite hard -- it felt drying on my skin and hair.
The surrounding area of the hotel is really beautiful and there is a nice path to walk right outside the hotel. The conference room we stayed in was nice and the buffet and snack food provided was actually quite delicious. My favourite was the vegetable chips -- tell your admins to order it if they're booking the venue!!
The hotel also provided my partner conference room bookings free of charge. It was great as she needed a space to work while I was at my work conference.Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Sue L.Burlingame, United States1151 Jul 2024
We had the most wonderful time here. We stayed in the Erickson Wing and the view of the bay and sunsets was amazing. The sound of the waterfall below was also very nice. The staff is super friendly and helpful. We loved every minute of our stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Stayed here Easter Sunday. Pros : amazing location, beautiful views of the harbor. Amazing staff. Bathroom soaps were amazingly fragrant (tea tree).
The Nespresso machine in the room was a nice touch.
Where it lost stars was in the noise level and food. My kids wanted the sliders, which neither of them liked. Dry and under seasoned. I tried them and didn't care for them either. Neither finished their food. I was also surprised that the bill for the food didn't show the auto gratuity already added, just space for a tip and total, so when tipping 20%, the staff ended up with closer to a 40% tip.
The second issue was the noise. When I mentioned it to the room service attendant they were very attentive, and offered to speak to the front desk and transfer my room to a quieter one, but at night with my kids it wasn't worth it to move. My issues were with the door seals. The seagulls could be heard from inside, and people 50 feet down the hallway, I could hear talking from inside my room. I slept with the TV on for background noise so I would hear less from the other patrons. I don't know. For 300 a night, and if i booked this room with my lady, this would have made a serious alteration to our evening.
The hotel made up for this with a very attentive staff, a very concerned staff, and a nicely clean room. And of course the soap. That is the expectation of an expensive room though, so it hit my standard.
I feel like the fixes to my issues are inexpensive: some weather stripping and a clearer receipt for room service, and maybe a bit more quality control in the kitchen. Again, maybe that's just room service, but for the price, I do expect excellence. Total cost after parking fee and the extra tip on the sliders brought me to just under 400 for the night.
Pic of the view and the door seal (or lack of). You can see the light streaming from the balcony through the door from the hallway....Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Brad S.Redmond, United States296430 Dec 2023
We stayed in the Erickson wing a couple weekends ago for my wife's birthday. Beautiful property. It's a boutique hotel managed by an estate. Super friendly staff. Fantastic location just a couple minutes walk from the Clipper. Great view of the harbor from our room. Room was beautifully set up with an amazing bathroom with a garden tub. Romance package was on point with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. Breakfast at the on-site restaurant was fantastic. Cheaper than the Fairmont and a better overall experience.

In response to one reviewer's comment in May 2019 about construction...I think the 1 star was uncalled for. It's literally stated on the website when you book your room that it's under construction and the hours they'd be working. It's not the hotel's fault that a guest didn't read that when booking and then complains about it. We knew about it and booked anyway because we didn't plan to spend our entire day in the room. Was it annoying in the morning? Yes, but we knew and it was like an alarm and we woke up and went out to enjoy the day. By the time you're back in the afternoon, they're done.
Now onto my review. We came here to celebrate a birthday. I had flowers delivered to the hotel and they were in our room by the time we checked in. The staff were so incredibly friendly, just like my last visit. Our room was spacious and the view was lovely.
The breakfast omelet was DELICIOUS and so was the orange juice. Was it pricier than going out for breakfast? Yes. But it's my partner's birthday so spoil away!
I haven't been back at this hotel in over 7 years and the renovation since then was stunning. They did an amazing job with the renovation. As someone in the industry, I would have preferred the glass dividers between rooms (on the balcony) be frosted glass for more privacy. Also, with frosted glass, you don't ever have to worry about sourcing the patterned glass they used. To show this could be an issue, one of the patterned ceiling glass panels had broken and was replaced with a regular see through piece - I assume they couldn't get that pattern anymore - uh oh!
The bathroom in our unit is primed for a renovation. The bathroom is spacious but it was renovated awhile ago and feels dated and more "mature luxury" vibe with the faux marble tiles etc. It would look much more modern with a higher efficiency toilet, new countertop, new tiles, new showerhead, and larger tub that would actually fit two people.
Absolutely loved our stay. It was difficult to leave! Can't wait to visit again.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 04 Apr 2014Previous review1. The exterior of the place (the renovated portion) looks awesome. The non-renovated section looks dated. It looks like a new section was added on top of the older one.
2. The check in process was super quick. I highly recommend that TWO people work the front desk during check ins after 3pm but that wasn't the case. There were 5 separate people waiting to check in with only one lady working.
3. The room was a complete let down. I had a special rate through someone I know so I paid quite a bit less than the advertised rate. If I had paid full price, I'd be giving this place 2 stars and would be quite miffed. Yes I enjoyed the Aveda products but they don't make up for the completely dated room with horrible bedding. It definitely didn't feel like a 3 or 4 or 5 star hotel.
4. I've never been told to call the morning of for a late check-out possibility. Every single place I've stayed in will tell you that night if you can or cannot do late check-out. The point of a late check-out is to sleep in or do whatever and KNOW you have extra time. Calling in the morning to ask if it's possible defeats the purpose.
5. GREAT LOCATION. I can't knock the location of this place. It's only a brisk 5 minute (or 10 minutes if you walk super slow or if you're taking it all in) walk to the Fairmont Empress, Legislature, Royal Museum and Victoria Bus Terminal. I'd consider it again for the convenience now that I know the room isn't that great.
6. Yes you can get a better room if you paid premium. The photos on Yelp and on the website are for the renovated rooms, so don't be shocked/mortified when you get one of the unrenovated rooms. Also, the unrenovated room was TINY. It was the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in (even smaller than the private room I had at a hostel).
7. THIN WALLS! I'm not even saying if you're getting frisky. I'm saying you can hear the actual words being spoken on the television. I was hearing the couple next door having a conversation. So if you're looking for sexy time...then be prepared to make your neighbors quite uncomfortable.
8. Disregard the room measurements you see on Expedia and other sites because they are WRONG. I work in the construction industry and I can assure you that my standard room was not 300SF as advertised. It was 200SF at best.
I can get the same rate for a room at the Hotel Grand Pacific. I think I'll try that next time simply because I'd hope the rooms are a bit more modern and don't make me feel like I'm staying at a Motel 8 (not joking). I've stayed at Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn with better rooms. This place was decent but there's nothing to brag about. - Healthy U.San Jose, United States0791124 Jul 2023
Location location location. This is a very nice hotel close to everything. Be sure to stay in the newer wing which has the best views.

The view of the harbor is spectacular but the hotel itself is run down and poorly maintained. Cigarette butts in the garden beds. Bird poop and moss growing on the deck. Dust hanging from the ceiling in the corridors. Worst of all rooms not made up until checkout and guests not told about this. An expensive hotel for zero service and zero amenities. Robin the maitre'd in the dining room is great and the food and drinks there are good but expensive

Just got back from our second stay at the Laurel Point. Note that this review is TIME SENSITIVE because the hotel is under construction. Their lobby, restaurant and bar are gone, so amenities are lacking. In all fairness, we were 100% notified of this in advance in the online property description, by email and by phone contact. Construction areas were, though, a bit more than expected, and we had to take an odd route to the elevator twice.
You couldn't pick a better location for a hotel on the inner harbor. It's super easy to get to, and is walking distance from the museum, harbor, downtown shopping and restaurants. They have a paid parking lot within a minute of the hotel, plus valet parking. Views of the harbor are outstanding, and it's fun just to watch all the comings and goings of ships, ferries, float planes and other vehicles.
Rooms are a decent size and have a bed, desk and sitting area with a couple of chairs. Bathroom was a bit on the small size, but workable. Everything was clean and fresh. Nothing looked worn, stained or in need of service.
Staff is on point in every regard. They are friendly, knowledgeable and will happily attend to any need. One day we were heading out and it was raining. They asked if we had an umbrella (we didn't), then promptly procured a couple for our use. Everyone smiles when they run into you and ask how you are doing, or if you need anything. Great team.
As I said, restaurant was under construction, so they had placed some tables in one of their meeting/conference rooms. They had a limited menu, but the food was well prepared and very good. My only complaint was the bar. I understand the construction part, but there is no excuse for lack of INVENTORY. For example, they had no sugar cubes to make an Old Fashioned, a pretty staple whiskey drink. They also had no tequila or Chambord. This has nothing to do with construction, just proper ordering.
I would absolutely recommend this hotel, and when we're in Victoria again, we will stay here. I believe the construction will end some time in August 2019. At that time, kick another half-star on top of this review.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 14 Jan 2017
I stayed here for several days. One of the things I loved was watching the ferry boats go by. Occasional sea life too. Great view fantastic ambience. You can take walks along the point with paths that hug the water, except where the ferry comes to port. It felt a little sketchy walking back to the hotel at nice along the dark paths near the water. So, it is better to come back along the streets at night, which has better lighting.
The quality of rooms was ok. Well, a little better than ok, but I expected more for the price.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Thank you Brian B. for your review. We are so glad you like the "sightseeing" available from your waterfront room :) It sounds as though our Erickson Wing rooms might suit you on your next stay. Their decor is more contemporary and they have a larger floorplan, deck & windows.
We are sorry that you didn't feel comfortable walking along the water after dark and have asked the City of Victoria to illuminate the path that you mentioned.
We look forward to your next stay, Louise - Guest Experience
