Planning to have a homebirth was a dream of mine. And my daughter being my last baby , I was so excited to be getting my dream. Evaly was amazing for my prenatal care, I felt so comfortable and cared for. I had a rough pregnancy with severe hyperemesis. I was also receive care through a OB's office. Hybrid care so to speak. My pregnancy took a turn when I developed Cholestasis of pregnancy and my dream of a home birth was no longer an option. I had to have a scheduled induction to make sure my baby would be okay.

Evaly was there with my partner and I. She helped me through the hardest labor (no pain medication during the induction). She empowered me! I almost had my baby over the toilet!

Her postpartum care was fantastic. We welcomed her like she is part of our family.

My birth may not have gone as we planned but she made my hospital birth much better than I ever hoped. She is highly recommended!

It is so easy write about how much of a pillar Evaly was of my labor, but I don't want to skip over the 9 months of care that was amazing before that.
She was caring, explained all test and procedures and most of all empowered me to make the choices that were right for me and my family.
I had minor complications along the way, and a long induction and labor which caused some major anxiety. But Evaly was there every step of the way allowing me to voice my concerns and giving me the best information without belittling my fears.
I would recommend Evaly in all parts of prenatal care, labor and postpartum.

Island Midwife provided kind insight into a new world of parenthood. Evaly provided unbiased information from an experienced mother's point of view. Her visual aids and handouts helped understand the various phases of birth and pregnancy.

Evaly is an amazing resource for local referrals including post-partum yoga and mother's groups. She also opened her vast library of pregnancy books for at-home reference. She's very familiar with home birth along with hospital standards.

Island Midwife is an affordable option that offers flexible scheduling with convenient Alameda based locations. Her extensive class schedule provided a chance to learn about the different phases of pregnancy including various trimesters, breastfeeding and post-partum care. She's always been available for follow-up questions.

Evaly is FANTASTIC!

While the original plan was to not give birth at the hospital, because of many little issues I had (high blood pressure, 10 days overdue, large baby for my small frame, etc) I ended up at Alta Bates and Evaly was there with us the entire time. She was exactly what both my husband and I needed: a gentle and calming coach. She helped me through the most difficult moments of labor, and she kept my husband from totally losing it. She was also a great go between with the hospital staff (some who were a little much to deal with while laboring for 24 hrs). While I was minutes from a c-section that I really wanted to avoid she fought for the procedure to not happen. Everything worked out great.

The home visits after giving birth were FANTASTIC. My recovery was rough and not having to get up to go out for a doctors visit right away was really nice. She provided care for both our baby and myself. She also recommended a wonderful Pediatrician that was a great fit for our family. I highly recommend Evaly to anyone having a home or hospital birth.

Evaly is AMAZING. If you're thinking of a homebirth, I would recommend Evaly the Island Midwife in a heartbeat. She was my midwife for my first birth, and spent much more time with me than my doctor at Kaiser...Every prenatal appointment I felt heard and supported. Her calming presence was great help before and during labor. She was with me every step of the way during my VERY long labor, checking to make sure baby and I were healthy, helping to incorporate my husband, doula, and mom into the process. Even when I started getting anxious about the length of my labor or my slow progress she always had a calm & supportive response to help ground me. She is grounding! Which is EXACTLY what you need in a midwife. Evaly also provided some postpartum visits and helped with breastfeeding and newborn care. I must have sent her 100 texts in the first few weeks of my baby's life, and she responded to ALL of them! I couldn't have asked for a better support to bring my baby into this world. Thank you Evaly. If we get lucky enough to have another baby in the future, I hope you're free to be our midwife again!

Evaly is the best! I loved having her as my midwife. It was my first pregnancy and I wasn't sure I could have a home birth. Once I met with Evaly and compared how I felt with Doctors and a birthing center I was looking at, I knew I was in good hands. The prenatal care was wonderful and my birth experience was great. It was a really difficult and painful labor but I felt cared for and safe. The best part is the postnatal care! Within a short time after birth I was in bed happy with my baby! The house was just as it was before labor and not having to go out of the house and have your postnatal visits in your home is priceless. She cared for my baby and for my healing. We miss Evaly! And her assistant was also amazing!

Evaly supported me throughout my first pregnancy and postpartum period. I was anxious about the whole process but working with her helped me grounded and prepared for birth. I appreciated Evaly's gentle and mindful approaches as well as her commitment and experience as a midwife. Without her, I wouldn't have felt confident enough to do home birth. Evaly is amazing!!! She visited me for 6 weeks after delivery and supported my breastfeeding crisis. I recommend Evaly to everyone who is considering home birth. I miss seeing her!!

I had complete confidence in her from start to finish of our time with together, and she was an invaluable resource between appointments. She always answered my text messages and emails in a timely fashion and was available for phone call support, too. What a change from the traditional medical system! Even if you plan to have a hospital birth, choose Evaly for your midwife! The home visits are sooo nice during pregnancy and postpartum--very relaxing and hassle-free.
Besides the wonderful appointments we had with her, she also offers classes and lended us a wide variety of pregnancy- and baby-books to read. Whenever I had a hard time making decisions about the million choices of pregnancy & baby care, she would provide literature showing pro's and con's so I could make an informed decision.
Evaly is so kind-hearted, and has real life experience being a mom! I think that experience makes her very "down to earth", flexible, and non-judgmental. Her motherly presence was so reassuring during labor, and she was by my side the whole time I needed her.
She also offers well-woman exams/appointments, which I didn't know was a service midwives could provide!
