Hired Kamani to install an AC in the lower part of a window.

He was punctual and professional. I got one other quote and overall the price seemed to be in line with the market, if maybe a bit cheaper.

He was very kind and professional responding to all my emails and questions about window/AC compatibility before I even scheduled a date with him.

Would hire again for any handyman services in the future!

Edit: see how his response is an exact repeat of what he did to me 12 years ago :) you should be ashamed of yourself, Kamani. You terrified me as a young girl and I will always live with that. Please do file a report. I will contact my landlord as the witness to your behavior.

I asked this guy to come out to quote a simple job about 12 years ago. The only reason I am posting this now is because his business just sent me an automatic marketing text and I was reminded of the experience. I was too scared to leave reviews back then because I was a 21 year old girl living alone, he had my address, and was dangerous. Well, I don't live there anymore so I shall review away! I contacted him to quote the price of installing a window AC and hanging some small pictures. He quoted a price over the phone and then it doubled when he got to my apartment. I told him he could do it for the price he quoted or leave. He tells me I'm going to get arrested for talking to him like that and calls me the B word as he walks out the door. He tells me he's going to call the police and sue me for not paying him, also threatening that he's a locksmith and can break into my apartment whenever he wants to. I run to get my landlord once he's out of the building and we go outside where he's yelling that I threatened him with a knife, which obviously never happened. I'm sure Kamani has matured in the last 12 years but I would still never recommend anyone use him!

I have used NYC Handyman a handful of times (for jobs big and small) and it is always a five star experience.

I have used Kamani on two separate occasions and both were positive experiences. The work he performed was switching out light fixtures & ceiling fan, hanging a huge two piece medicine cabinet & hanging a curtain rod. He's very responsive, shows up on time and does good work.

Update: the medicine cabinet that he installed fell off the wall on top of me and almost knocked me cold! The flimsy anchor he used came right out of the hole. In addition, the light he just installed in my closet no longer works.

When I notified him about the medicine cabinet feeling like it shifted when I opened the door on Friday morning, he said he couldn't come until Monday. I even sent him pics of where it was pulling away from wall and he didn't feel any urgency to come and take it down even if he didn't have time to reinstall it. 4 hours later it fell off the wall while I was using the sink!

I would be extremely wary of using his services after this episode!

He was highly skilled and completed each job quickly without mess. His work was excellent in all cases. I could not have asked for a better job. For quality and speed, I felt I got a bargain because was much was accomplished in a short amount of time. He was also very pleasant to be around.

Kamani is the best! I've hired him twice now. (Also referred him to my sister, who had a great experience too!) He's installed an AC unit for me and not one, not two, but FOUR different light fixtures. So worth it to just hire a professional and get the project DONE. Life is short! Make your apartment beautiful! Replace the boob lights! Hire Kamani, don't electrocute yourself!!

I have a dresser that I really like, but the tracks on the drawers needed to be replaced. Kamni came on time and replaced the tracks. He's fast, courteous , and really knows what he's doing. He did a wonderful job and his price is more than reasonable. I will definitely use him again!!

Kamani was amazing! Texted him late in the day just to gauge availability, little did I know he is available the next morning! Great concise service, careful, cleaned up afterwards.
Flexible enough to add a little light adjustments for me after he got here.
Responsive, fair prices, and good work. A gem in the city of flakey providers, and this is saying a lot coming from picky architect like myself, look at that clean tv mount

I've now used Kamani's services three times, and each time he's done an efficient, high quality job for a very reasonable price. We've used him to hang heavy mirrors, install shelving, fix door hinges, install bathroom hardware, and some other little fixes, and would highly recommend for all those jobs. He's great to deal with as well.

Awesome work! Installed a glass partition over bathtub and it looks beautiful! Also installed soap tray. He arrived early as requested, was courteous and polite, very presentable and cleaned up after himself.
Could not be happier!
