What's the best way to get from Mountain View to SFO? I need it to be inexpensive yet reliable.
Our flight is at 6:15am, so we need an early pickup (3:30-4am).
I read mixed reviews about Super Shuttle and South & East Bay Airport Shuttle.
Taxis seem too expensive.
We've thought about renting a car but that also seems expensive.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Super Shuttle is normally the best way to go. I've taken Super Shuttle from Morgan Hill to SFO a few times for early morning flights. I suggest calling them and ask about how much they charge, it depends on the distance.

If you can find a limo service that offers town cars (most do) it might only cost about $40-$50. That would be a lot cheaper than a Taxi and very reliable.

Super shuttle. Its pretty reliable and decently priced. That early in the morning, you'll probably be the only ones in the van.

Super Shuttle is reliable but you have to be READY when they get there. If you don't answer your phone they will leave.

Sorry, all, but have had baad experiences w/Super Shuttle. Once, got picked up at 3:00 a.m. for an 8:00 a.m. flight 'cause my location fit their itinerary for picking up everyone else after me. Ok, I get that they have to make money on their trips & fill up their vans...but I also came w/in 5:00 of missing my flight 'cause the driver got lost...Ok it was foggy...second time I used them was not much better. I have since used limo town car service...reliable, cheaper than a taxi, and I don't ever want to go thru sweating missing my flight because of Super Shuttle again.

Thank you all for your suggestions.
I don't want to ask any friends to give us a lift because it is so early. I also didn't know Caltrans ran that early in the morning.
I think I like the idea of limo town cars. Can anyone recommend a good limo service that serves the south bay? That can also pick-up early (3-4am)? I've looked online but there are too many choices & I would appreciate help to narrow it down.
Thanks again!17/9/2008 -

Supershuttle is fine. They're usually on time.
Wow someone actually stays in those airport hotels just to make a flight? I dont see why you need to do this unless you're from Sacramento.17/9/2008 -

I've typically done a rental car. You can get a one way for less than the price of two shuttle fares. Plus you'll be able to load the car and control your departure time so you arrive on time.

That early in the morning, you'll be fine with supershuttle. They are pretty reliable. If you really want to do limo service, then you can do executive sedan. You can actually reserve that through supershuttle as well (I've done it before). It is pricey. Seriously, stick to just super shuttle. Normally I lie about my departure time so the pickup window is a little later and I don't have to wait at the airport as long.18/9/2008
