This is one of few Japanese restaurants I've been to that don't close midday. It's a great option for a late lunch or very early dinner. Perfect for when you're craving sushi at 3 or 4pm.
We ordered the sushi and sashimi combo, two beef udons, and diet cokes. They give complimentary miso soup. The cokes came in their cans and we are also given a glass with ice for the soda.
I really enjoyed my sushi and sashimi. It had a good variety. Service was fast. The fish tasted fresh. It was the perfect amount of food for one person.
My companions also raved above the beef udon being delicious! The bowl was quite large and I don't think they fully finished the broth. It was very filling.
Ambiance is casual. The restaurant itself is on the small side and located in a strip mall with 7/11 on one side and that's in front of an apartment complex.
The road here is confusing. Still not sure if the parking lot is one way due to how some people parked. The GPS instructions may look confusing. You turn left towards what looks like the apartment complex and there will be a break in the meridian to take another left into the lot. The lot is small and some people park on the street.
It was delicious food and worth the hassle of the parking situation.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Deborah M.San Francisco, CA666532Aug 16, 2024
I'm a regular customer here. I live in SF, but visit mother in Pleasant Hill. We recently dined here and unfortunately had a subpar experience. Our food took an unusually long time to arrive, and when it did, the chicken teriyaki was overly blackened and charred. PLEASE NOTE THAT BLACKENED FOOD IS CARCINOGENIC AND CAUSES CANCER!
We sent it back and again waited a very long time, but the replacement was only marginally improved. I've included photos showing the heavily charred chicken strips. We had to trim off the blackened portions while dining there and also at home with the leftovers. Very time consuming!
Also the servers encourage repeat customers with an incentive program --we get a free meal, after 10 meals are stamped on their card. I was told my next meal would be free after earning 10 stamps, but only received a $10 discount on a $20 bento box.
I hope the restaurant can address these issues, as I've enjoyed many meals here in the past. I'd appreciate if management could reach out to discuss my concerns, as I was unable to find an email address on their website, so I submitted an important message to them via Yelp. I can revise my rating if I get satisfactory response from management.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Laura D.Livermore, CAJul 3, 2024
Craving sushi and stopped in for some nigiri and a sushi roll takeout. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Beautiful presentation, didn't expect that for a takeout order!
Parking can be tricky, I was lucky to get a spot up front.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 9, 2024Updated review
Usually we order take out from here at least once a week, but tonight we decided to dine in. The food is consistently good, and tonight was no exception. We had the short rib bento box, which came with tempura, gyoza, rice, and salad. It was the perfect dinner combo. We also ordered various sushi rolls, and shrimp tempura appetizer, along with hamachi kama, and Brussels sprouts. Everything came out tasting delicious and fresh. I am so glad we dined in today because the service was exceptional! It was so nice to have good service, which is increasingly rare these days. I would highly recommend this place for great sushi and solid kitchen entrees.

These were the most delicious little morsels of happiness because whenever I eat them, I associate it with a happy celebration with friends and family.
Usually, when I order futomaki from Japanese restaurants outside of Hawaii, I am often disappointed. They just never quite capture the taste profile of the rolls from Hawaii.
Hasumi's futomaki rolls are SPOT ON!!!! They taste so good, if I close my eyes, I can hear the bubbly happy chatter of new years celebrations of the past.
My family got several rolls. All perfect. My son said the spicy tuna was the best he's ever had....anywhere. I need to go back and get an entire tray of futomaki for our next celebration.
AMAZING!!! Highly recommend this little gem. FYI...the parking area is sketchy. We ordered pick up and would recommend that route. - May 18, 2024
Happened to stumble upon this restaurant on Mother's Day. The restaurant was pretty crowded when we entered, but the waitress was able to seat us under 5 minutes. We ordered the Inferno Scallop Roll, Seaweed Salad, and a variety of nigiri.
Inferno Scallop Roll (8/10): This roll was perfectly spicy and the scallops were light and yummy. Perfect ratio of rice to roll as well.
Seaweed Salad (7/10): A very typical seaweed salad dish. Very refreshing and a great addition to the sushi dish.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 10, 20241 check-in
Surprisingly really good! I've learned to lower my expectations for what I could get in the area so this place really brought joy in my life because the fish tasted so fresh! I ordered take out so I can't speak to the service but the location was very clean.

I have been back here so many times it's not even funny, and I've brought a ton of people. Everyone has loved it and there's something for everyone because the menu is quite large. It's consistently the most fresh sushi and always tasty. We tried all the other sushi spots in the area (including Oakland, Berkeley, etc) and this is still the spot we keep coming back to. Their menu has changed since the photos from last year, I'll have to update those. The staff are always polite and on top of things. The ambiance is pretty mellow and not a bad looking place. It is super unassuming hidden away in the plaza.

No fishy bites, no weird chewy bites, or frozen taste. Wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Plenty of tables, parking can be a bit challenging. The atmosphere isn't amazing, but nothing to worry or complain about. I would say the price point was on par with other places around the bay area. This physical location seems to be the death of so many restaurants, but hopefully that won't be the case this time. I hope they do some type of roll topped with seared tuna (think "lighthouse roll" at shimizu in Oakland)!. We could tell the rice hadn't been sitting and no early frying of ingredients, everything was executed very well. We will be back.

TL : DR - great addition: order some sushi!
Located in a nondescript strip mall near Best Buy (across from the AAA building), you could quickly drive by and miss this place
Service - prompt, friendly service
Ambiance - Simple decor
Food -The food is really good. All of the rolls were delicious
007 - table favorite. The crunchy bits that come with the roll are fantastic, and you will find yourself scooping more onto your bite; try it.
Mt Fuji and Dynamite Rolls - both pack a ton of flavor, and neither will disappoint. If you like a hint of spice, then these are for you.
Dragon - Even though this is a much simpler roll, the eel was delicious
ET - Similar to Mt Fuji
Overall - It is an excellent addition to the PH food scene. If you like sushi, you owe it to yourself to visit. Add some beer (Asahi Super dry recommended) makes for an awesome meal with friends/Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 1 - Feb 26, 2024
This bowl is my dream. 14 pieces of sashimi over sushi rice and it is SO FRESH. I never knew chirashi existed but it is now my favorite. The sushi rice is so good and it fills you up, HIGHLY recommend. I'm a huge nigiri fan so this made my day. It comes with a side of seaweed salad too! Absolutely delicious cannot recommend it enough.
The staff is so kind as well & they offer stamp cards!Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
