Been coming here for a few years. Finding an honest, reliable auto shop is like trying to find a good dentist-nearly impossible!
Sebastian is always straightforward with advice, with reasonable prices, and very honest about what actually needs to be fixed/not.
This is the only auto shop I go to now in Alameda.

Brought my car into the nicest guys at 1701 Auto Care with a flat tire (and the service light on) at 8 AM this morning...an hour and a mere $112 later, they'd patched the tire, changed the oil and sent me on my way!

They're everything you hope your garage is, HONEST, fair priced and terrific mechanics. They'll turn you away if nothing is really wrong and have quick turn around. I can usually wait until work is completed, no leaving your car for a day or two for regular jobs. Had a bumper repaired and had to come back the next day. Thank your lucky stars if you live in Alameda and need some repairs done! They'll do you right!

They were about $3.00 more than the other cheapest quote at Goodyear, but I felt better about supporting a local-owned business, especially one recommended so highly. Soon, I needed a new rear strut put in and they were not only much less expensive on it than Big O (like the tires), they were very speedy and drove me home. So, when our driver-side mirror got knocked off by some a**hole in Oakland, I gave them the business as well. They put it on in about 25 minutes and had me on my way for a pretty fair price. They're very nice, bend over backwards to help you types, honest, and will get all my future business as well.

Thats an important part of feeling reassured and like I can trust a mechanic. The owner David takes care of you. I can tell they've been doing it for a while and know what they're doing. Highly recomend.

The brake pads on my Acura were almost failing and were making a terrible noise. These guys were honest, fast, friendly, and provided an excellent service overall. Definitely a keeper!!

Fantastic service!
My car was running really rough (so rough it wouldn't have made it to my regular shop)
I called up 1701 for an appointment, and though they were busy made time to fit me in the next morning.
