We recently completed a full house renovation with Danny & Debra: bathroom, kitchen, floor, recessed lighting, subpanel, fireplaces, and structural work too. We are happy with their attention to detail and effort on our home. They took care of everything, including the pesky permit issues in addition to working with a less-than-satisfactory structural engineer (we should have just went with Danny's engineer to begin with!). Their team is very straight forward in getting things done, being honest on what is possible or not possible. In addition, the price quoted was just as promised.

We now live in our dream home!

Danny's a bit intimidating when you first meet him, but he's actually a great guy with a sense of humor. Danny and Debra are direct, transparent, honest, and very responsive. Hector and his team worked on our house, and they're also very experienced and work extremely fast. We're very happy with the end result, and especially impressed with the cabinet maker and countertop fabricator. Our stove took almost a year to arrive, and Danny still made sure people came back to help install it. Danny even hired a photographer and shared the pictures with us.

some extra tips for those remodeling for the first time.
- renderings help a lot! the workers work extremely fast, so if you're unable to be there frequently, they will go off your renderings
- if you're going for the flush look with your appliances, make sure the crew knows ahead of time as it's very important where the outlets and gas pipes are positioned.
- be sure to let them know your paint texture ahead of time. we're not fans of orange peel, and if you can't do smooth, old world "light" is a nice alternative.

Probably ok for a rental; dont hire them for your house:
The Good:
Their 3rd party cabinet maker is excellent [Jose (Andres) Nava , Xiqui Cabinets]
The Bad:
They dont closely supervise their [underpaid] workers, who make mistakes both large [window not centered by almost a foot, wrong color floor, tried to install main support beams wrong] and small. Homeowner has to get involved, which is exhausting.
Gave us such bad advice on finishes we had to get our own subcontractors that would listen to us and help us do it nice.
There are much better contractor choices out there.

I must say I had a lot of experience with construction companies in my life and almost each and every one of them failed me and my family.
After hiring 1st Choice to renovate my house in Wilton Ave in Palo Alto I had absolutely no doubt that 1st choice Builder will be my 1st choice when I wanted to build my 4000sqf house in Ravensbury ave in Los Altos Hills.. so I did and it was the best decision I made.
I can't thank you enough guys! Danny is an the best and he knows better then most how to treat clients when it comes to costumer service and communication!
They work clean, fast and efficient. They gave attention to the little details (my wife Natalie is crazy when it comes to details!), they have a solution to any issue that comes up on the plans and with the city.

We are extremely satisfied with our basement remodel completed by 1st choice builders . They were able to make my Pinterest board come to life! Very knowledgeable and easy to work with. Everyone we worked with was so friendly and willing to answer all of my questions. We can't thank them enough for transforming our basement into an incredible space for our family. Highly recommend and will definitely use them for any future projects we have!

We hired 1st choice builders for major remodeling of our house (2 full bath and full kitchen). Danny was very responsive every step of the way, for all the small polish requests. His team (Roberto and Hector) provided us high quality craftsmanship throughout the construction. We had a really great experience with 1st choice builders . We did a complete gut and remodel of the kitchen as well as some work in our living area. From start to finish Danny and his crew were professional with all aspects of the job. From the clear and concise contract, to the money saving suggestions, to a full explanation of the cost and need for any change orders, we felt fully informed throughout the process. The job was scheduled to take two months and hit its deadline. The crew kept the worksite as neat as possible. Finally, the quality of the work and the reaction from those seeing the finished project have been the best part of the process. Would definitely recommend them for your project.
