24 Hour Fitness - Petaluma

OK, I have been complaining for over a year about how dirty this gym is. Nothing is ever cleaned. How can you afford advertising billboards on 101 if you can't even afford to hire a cleaning service! I have complained regularly about the vast amount of hair and bar soap left in the drains.

Today, another member drew my attention to a big fat dead COCKROACH in the women's locker room! The roach has been there for over a week. Where there is one cockroach there are many more. The floors are never cleaned and the drains are never professionally maintained, resulting in continual clogs. The handicap shower, the large one, is still clogged with a mat thrown over the top so no one can see how bad it is. Black mold lurks underneath.

Yesterday, 3/13, numerous maintenance guys were in the gym. Six to eight machines had "no use" signs on them; either broken or in need of attention.

By the way, the company has a new deceptive tactic of taking reviews from "Local Guides" I see. What a farce!

The drain was not unclogged in the women's locker room handicap shower so I retract my review that the drain was fixed. Doubt they are going to fix it because some member that comes in between 8-9A has an animal's mane of hair and she leaves her leftovers, including Q-Tips, chunks of bar soap, hair clips and candy wrappers in the drain. The locker room floors have not been cleaned in several months; filth abounds. PLEASE WATCH THE REVIEWS OF ELITE MEMBERS AND CONSIDER THE LOCATION OF THE PERSON POSTING THE REVIEW; THEY ARE OFTEN STAGED TO BRING THE OVERALL RATING UP. It is August 6, 2022. In my last review in June 2022, I mentioned the large handicap shower stall in the women's locker room. The drain was clogged then, the drain is still clogged with the trap open now and a disgusting sewer smell. (DRAIN FINALLY UNCLOGGED 9/7/22.)

Cleaning is pretty much non-existent at this location. I take a bleach rag with me each day to clean the machines and it comes back soiled black after every visit. I have recently seen the gentleman Manager now performing some of the cleaning duties. 24 staff's excuse is that they can't find a cleaning service; just like the excuse about the air conditioning that often doesn't work. The women's locker room has trash and toilet paper all over the floor because the employees either don't know how to put a roll on the spindle or the Club is buying such thin toilet paper it shreds when being removed from the roll.

Three days this week and last week, trash has been bagged and put in the hallway that customers use to access the locker rooms and upstairs weight room; you'd think an employee with any brains would leave it outside or... better yet take it to the trash bin that is only 20 ft outside the side door. That way customers wouldn't have to pass it or smell it! I have photos on my phone if anyone would like them; also of the stinking plumbing! WATCH OUT for the reviews for this location; many of the Elite member reviews are staged to bring their rating up. Look also at the location of the people posting reviews that don't often visit this location or maybe other employees' staging reviews!

Three weeks ago the drain in the women's handicapped shower stall was clogged; today it is still clogged!! The water collects around your feet; so unhealthy and so worthy of reporting to the Sonoma County Health Department. The gym has become increasingly dirty. The weight area upstairs is a disgrace; paper all over the floor and thick layers of dust under the steel-framing girders. The downstairs is no cleaner; an accumulation of used paper towel was in the cup on the Stairmaster next to me this morning. It had been there over a week as I use the adjacent Stairmaster every day. I delivered it to the garbage because I was tired of looking at the filth; Yuk! No cleaning is done at this gym. I take a bleach rag with me to clean machines before and after I use them. It leaves the house white and returns home black! This is a true story and an accurate account of this place. I have been going here since 2003; I stay only because it is convenient to my home. This place really deserves a zero rating. I would take photos but conveniently there are no photos or recordings allowed in the shower area. Maybe I will photo some of the other areas. It looks like since the bankruptcy the company really doesn't care about anything but $$$ and keeping the doors open.

Updated review as of 12/1/21. I have become more concerned with COVID transmission at this facility. People come into the gym with a mask due to the mandated sign at the front door, however, I always see 3-4 clients upstairs not masking during their workouts. Management seems pretty indifferent to COVID and the benefits of vaccines and science. All it takes is for one employee to get sick and transmit the constantly mutating virus to a patron. Yes, I know you have a customer disclaimer in small print on your mobile app but how many people read it for understanding??

I have to chuckle at the reviews that say this gym is so clean. I take a bleach rag with me every day when I work out and you ought to see the filth that comes off the equipment. I used to see a regular cleaning lady before COVID but I haven't observed anyone cleaning the floors, equipment or the locker room since before March 2020. This is my opinion as a woman; perhaps the guys have a different opinion of clean. I'd currently grade the place "D" for cleanliness. Next time I'll take photos and folks can form their own opinions.

This is the dirtiest, nastiest fitness place in Petaluma. The air conditioning never works in the summer, the floors haven't been cleaned in the women's restroom in months. And, they are charging basically the same price as City Sports, a club that is newer, that has been updated with better equipment and that has adequate parking facilities. I have noted issues several times with staff that alway's say "THIS IS NOT MY DEPARTMENT." WTF, you work there don't you!

This is my local, neighborhood gym. I've been a member since 2003 so I have seen a lot of staff come and go. The gym itself is OK; plenty good for my use. The thing I object to is that they only turn on the fans when asked; when its 80-100 degrees outside people it only makes sense to turn on the air. I have heard the story so many times about the air conditioning being broken or staff pleading ignorance as to how to turn on the fans. This is my major gripe. During hot weather it is like a sweat lodge.

Most of the staff are great. Current staff members that shine are: Patrick and Michelle, always friendly, welcoming and bright. Kelly was my favorite but she left to pursue other opportunities.
