Not much you can say about the Third Avenue Bridge other that it's free with no tolls, and it's one way and connects the South Bronx to East Harlem when heading southbound towards Manhattan.

For someone like me who lives on the far Upper East Side by Spanish Harlem it's really convenient when driving south down Route 87/Major Deegan. The few times we rented a car to drive up and explore some cool towns like Sleepy Hallow, Tarrytown, Dobbs Ferry, and to gamble at Empire City Casino, we came back down later at night and a quick trek over to this bridge made getting back home pretty quick when traffic was backed up.

Hey, it's a toll free bridge in NYC so that's three stars alone!

This is on 3rd Avenue of course, and it's where they came up with the saying "let's be avenue." Okay not really.

This is actually one of my favorite bridges in town. It's like my hidden little secret, even though others know the secret too. Just because I love getting into Manhattan for free, and getting out for free although that's the case with most exits ways, and sometimes skipping the traffic that might be in other places.

You can't be mad at a bridge like that. In fact I'm very glad it's here, even though the paving has some issues.

i would take this bridge every day when i work on the upper east side from the bronx into manhattan toward lexington ave . not much car traffic during non rush hour and its not that long of a crossing over the harlem river. it connects the bronx to mahattan but its only for southbound traffic so if you want north bound you have to take willis ave bridge. the bridge had a major upgrade in 2004 and it was badly needed as the old bridges structure was falling apart and not safe . still the fastest way to get to the east side and fdr south bound with no crazy tolls .

I'm sure this bridge deserves more than 3-stars, though what exactly is it that you rate a bridge on really?

I believe I've only been on this bridge once in my life, other than when I've been in a passenger seat drunk and didn't realize it of course.

There's a U-Haul place nearby this bridge on the Bronx side that I had to rent a truck from and afterwards I used this bridge to get back into Manhattan ... thanks bridge.

It's a one-way bridge, very rare and it's counterpart must be nearby ... anyone know which bridge that is?

There were other vehicles on this bridge when I road over it so I'm guessing it gets used more than once in a lifetime by people but since I'm not in that area all too much this bridge misses out on carrying my ass.
