I grew up in SF and back in the day I/we were able to go to many different dismantles go in and pick what part you need at decent price. Today Ajax is one of the last or is the last in SF. I was able to get a rim for my Honda civic as one of my relatives had a hiccup and hit a curb. Definitely a reasonable price and was able to get the rim the same day. I was able to call and drive down there and pick one up, great service.

Where do I begin?
Besides lacking refinement and the baser formalities that characterize exceptional customer service (such as, a friendly greeting), they lied.
I called and asked for a left tail light (the whole casing, not a just a bulb) to a 1997 Acura RL. They said they had it. I drove up from San Mateo, and got it. $50. + tax.
I had the hombres at AMA Tire Shop reinstall it only to find out that it wasn't the right tail light for the RL. It may very well have been the light for the TL.
One might suggest that I should have been more prudent and double checked. That's not my job. I was told it was the right part, and it looked like the right part. It wasn't until installation that even the employee of AMA realized the replacement was too big.
Dismayed, I called Ajax. My concern was met with laughter, and a "we'll get ya your money back". I want the respect I deserve, and the car part I need to fix my car; not my money back. You wasted my time, and my gas money. I had to drive all the way to DISGUSTING SF for absolutely NOTHING. TWICE. Once to pick up the false part, and again to return it.
I'm not sure what was so funny. Do you think it is funny to play with someone's life? I don't. I'm trying to follow local regulations and fix MY CAR THAT I PAID FOR AND HAVE THE TITLE TO (AND HAVE PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED) so that I can get the 2021 sticker that I already paid for. I see how it is in this cruel city. They know how much power they have when people come in searching earnestly for a car part. The burly male of European descent who runs the show there was the one laughing on the phone. He was also the one laughing when I returned the part. Again, what was so funny?
You people think the lives of minorities are a joke. I hope that Karma will someday look upon your life with equal favour.
Understand something, I am not looking for trouble with anyone. I'm perceptive, and am no stranger to racism at this juncture in my life. You can tell. There's a difference between a cranky old man, and a racist one who's eyes glisten with undue hatred and cruelty; who squints behind his mask while he laughs at my dilemma. He was literally sitting there laughing to himself and turning beet red. One day I'm sure he will need some help, and somebody else will laugh at him.
To pour salt on the wound, he said he knew a shop that had it. He gave me my refund (which he had to count 3 times strangely), and didn't give me the contact information. I went back inside (maintaining social distancing), raised my arm politely to get his attention at the desk, and after being acknowledged asked for the number to the shop. I was completely ignored (even though I spoke audibly from the diaphragm, projecting my voice through the mask and plastic barrier). I asked again. He gave me the number.
I left and called. Wrong number. I called Ajax back and asked for the right number. I called that number and the guy hung up on me twice.
Tear down every "Black Lives Matter" sticker and poster in the city (which should actually read, "African American Lives Matter" since nobody is actually black in colour. We are brown). Those words are empty and meaningless until it becomes an experience. We are waiting. Patiently. We are the same species just a little darker than you. Grow up already. And don't forget about the American phenomenon called tanning booths. Honestly how can you be racist?
This review is an object analysis of my negative experience with this individual and is not reflective of malicious intent on my behalf whatsoever. I reserve the right to express my displeasure with the intentionally unfair treatment and poor customer service at this establishment on this platform.
I might add, I would never have written this review if it were not for the manner and spirit in which it happened.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Rohit K.Daly City, CA152Mar 4, 2022
I was in the market looking for rear trailing arms for my vehicle. I came across Ajax auto dismantlers gave them a call didn't get a response I thought they were busy since it is a junk yard. Got to the yard and was greeted by Shawn a very friendly sales person who helped find the part that I needed I was really lucky that he had the part. Shawn gave me a good price for the parts I need. I would recommend you to come to this place instead of giving a phone call I know it may seem like a hassle but there is alot of work that happens in that office. Come by and meet with Shawn he will help you out a lot!

Only offered me $1000 for a 2013 Corolla with only 81k mileage that had reparable collision damage confined to one area. This when the supply-chain issues and silicon ship shortage has made used cars- and the parts to repair them- worth real money. Funny, too, as I sold my 1997 Corolla with 240k mileage to them 9 years ago for about $800. Easily got an offer from private buyer for $1500 (damage was about 8k so he'd end up with car worth $14k for under 10k) and then another auto buyer gave me $3000 cash. Well I'd rather get 3k than 1k, wouldn't you? Definitely do your research and check out options before you sell to them!

Excellent customer service. Did what they promised! Not only did I get a fair price on my clunker I sold them but they came and picked it up and handled the paper work. Easy!

Had to get a car salvaged. After a kerfuffle with the emergency towing service (please never ever consciously choose Atco Towing... shitbag scammers), we ended up getting a sweet rate for a totaled Honda. And the driver Felipe was accommodating out the wazoo. He was extremely charismatic and brought a little light to a pretty bleak situation. Very little hassle overall :D
