I came in with a brake issue that caused my vehicle to wobble when making stops. Akin took a look and told me that my brakes still had plenty of miles left on them and then diagnosed that the wobble was from the brakes heating up from coming down hill and then recommended that we try and use them more sparingly.

He didn't charge for the inspection, and the whole thing didn't cost me a penny. While my vehicle was here, he also used some cleaner on the exterior to get rid of a scratch that was on our vehicle for months without us even asking.

It is difficult to get a good mechanic to work on your vehicles that you can trust, but I know my car is in good hands here. Akins is the best.

Bought an older SUV to be able to go to the beach, hiking, long trips with worrying about getting it dirty, after reading reviews and calling several shops, decided to come to Akins, they had the best prices as well as the best reviews, hard to find both in one, brought it in a couple weeks after purchase and did a huge service to it;
- Oil and filter changed
- Timing belt replaced
- Water pump replaced
- Crankshaft oil seal(s)
replaced
- Cooling system serviced
- Oil control valve replaced
- Antifreeze/coolant flushed/change

I then came back a few months later before a trip to Lake Tahoe and got my transmission serviced, I'm here now getting an oil change, the folks at Akins are honest, reliable and to the point, they won't try to upsell you and they will blatantly tell you if your asking for something your car doesn't need at the the time.

I have an advice that owner should talk softly because sometimes loudly make people think you are mean to them.

People should make appointment first because they can be busy at the store.

I will recommend the store for brake replacement.

I find this automotive repair shop to be one of the best. The owner is always straight with me. His prices are fair. I've even gone in there and he fixed something small and sent me home without charging me anything. To be a woman and trust your mechanic is an amazing feeling.

I don't know much about cars but I felt like I wasn't pressured to buy anything extra. I got an oil change and got brake pads. Good price, quick, and he communicated everything to me. There are some couches to sit down and wait.

It was time for my car to get maintained, and my husband and I found Akin's Auto Repair thanks to all the other Yelp reviews. We simply called to schedule an appointment.

We arrived early to the appointment, since we were in the area. Akin mentioned that it would be some time until our car got serviced, since there were people ahead of us. Ultimately, our car got serviced a bit earlier than our scheduled appointment. Their shop was very clean, and their waiting area had plenty of seats (although it was almost full when we were waiting...probably because we were early).

We were charged as quoted and Akin didn't try to sell any unnecessary/extra services. Did I also mention that the price is reasonable?

Found Akin's Auto Repair for a brake job after dealership quoted me $2500(!) which is fucking outrageous. Got quoted for half the price here and response time is very fast. Owner is honest and a no bullshit type of guy which I greatly appreciate. Will come back for future repairs

Absolutely phenomenal, hands down the best mechanic that I have ever interacted with as far as price, speed, communication, and professionalism goes.

Although I've only gone to a handful of mechanics in the past, compared to Akin's they have all been over-priced, slow, and difficult to talk with. I recently found out from another mechanic that my wheel bearing was worn out when I went in to check out a sound coming from my steering wheel. That other mechanic told me that nothing was wrong with the steering wheel and quoted a price for the wheel bearing that was $170 more than Akin's quote. Akin was able to both diagnose and make the needed repairs in an astoundingly fast period of time, including taking apart the steering wheel to eliminate the source of the noise. They were clear in their communication, fair, and showed genuine care towards their customers. They've definitely earned a repeat customer!

It was quick in n out. I thought needed to replace the brake fluid but recommended not to replace the brake fluid as it was just replaced last year.
