Anything accessible for the kids during the summer months where parents are struggling to find things for the kids to do is always a plus! Good going Southshore.

This is the second largest shopping center in Alameda, second only to Alameda Landing. It has some good anchor stores such as Safeway, Trader Joes, and Kohls.

Parking can be busy, but there are always spots available. If you need gas, go to the Safeway gas station - it has the cheapest prices in Alameda.

Also, there is a new large gym coming into this shopping center called Crunch Fitness. They advertise a $12.99 per month deal, that will increase the foot traffic here significantly.

      Kohls!

For a little town, this shopping center has everything. The Daiso has so many things. Old Navy has Christmas pajama pants for $9 with pockets. All neatly stacked. Rita's custard is here. Christmas tree is up. Vons chicken is there. Can't wait to go try it. Yi Fang Tea shop. Korean restaurant. Kohls. Safeway. Only a block to the water. Get a picnic basket. Plenty of parking. My favorite Trader Joe is here.

Alameda's South shore Center, aka "Southshore," was built as a promise to new residents that they would have a modern shopping center. Alameda's South Shore area is landfill. It was created to build more housing. Crazy right? Fill in the SF Bay to build more homes? Well, that's what they did back in the 1950s. My Dad bought one of those houses for $33,000.

The South Shore Center was one of the first modern shopping malls. With anchor stores like Woolworth, Walgreens, Safeway, Luckys, and JC Pennys.
The mall has changed a lot over the years. Did you know there's used to be a DMV Office at Southshore? The old stores are gone, and made way for major brands like Kohls, West Marine, Starbucks, and Old Navy. Pagano's opened the first hardware store at Southshore.

Now there's talk about tearing it all down to build housing. Where will we shop? The shopping center will evolve again.

Maybe we'll just have a giant foodie mecca with restaurants and shops.

Alameda Southshore Center can be found at the crossroads of Park St & Otis Drive, in the City of Alameda.

Great outdoor shopping center in a quiet neighborhood. Though it's not a lot of stores or shops, they do have the majority of everything you need from running errands to leisure, to just walking around. Convenient and plenty of parking available. Multiple entrances/exits.

They have restaurants, financial services, retail, beauty, home goods, hardware, and a variety of many other stores. They even have a play structure for the kids.

Many of the establishments have been added/replaced over the years. It's great to see Trader Joe's, Ulta, Safeway, See's Candies, Old Navy, TJ Maxx, Walgreens, Starbucks and Jamba Juice, to name a few. Some of my go-to's.

The holidays' my favorite time shopping here. They have holiday decorations and they have their big Christmas tree that is put up annually.

This place reminds me of a spot in San Pablo that hosted a Mervyn's store. Due to that location, the community college in the area was called the "university behind Mervyn's." This is an old-fashiony, old-time-looking spot and I'd have more nostalgia, except that their Mervyn's is now a Kohls, and the other spots, seem new and shiny. Except for Loards ice cream, which has kept it's charm. It's fine for walking around, but not much to see really. But coming back here brings lots of good memories.

Great local shopping center in Alameda!!

A great mix here of restaurants, grocery, fast food, and clothing stores. You can also get your car washed or hit the post office.

I do miss the Barnes & Noble bookstore that used to be here.

This place is like a mini outdoor mall, not far from the beach!!

This part of town is great. Very clean place with a variety of places to shop. Nothing spectacular, but nothing bad either. I enjoy being here. Highly recommended!

Like that there are stores like Daiso, See's, Whale & Friends, TJ Maxx, Kohl's & a plethora more plus Yi Feng Tea & Boba.
It's convenient to Safeway & Trader Joe's plus lots of other fast food places.
      Great environment as well.
