The food and the service here is amazing!
The owner is one of the nicest people. She came to the table to greet us and informed us of the ingredients used to prepare the food. Definitely enjoy going there

It was our first time trying Nigerian food and it was phenomenal. It felt like I was eating at someone's house and the food was cooked with love. The fufu had a nice consistency and paired well with our mouthwatering egusi soup with goat meat. The jollof rice was also flavourful and I like how plantains were cooked. The salad that came with it was decent and the chicken was nicely seasoned, although it's a bit chewy. We ordered mild for both dishes and thought it was just the right amount of spice. One of the servers recommended us the palm drink and it's an acquired taste, but it was a great addition to our meal. Even though our food took quite long to prepare, it was really worth it. The servers were nice and attentive, which made our dining experience great. The only downside is that the interior of the restaurant is a tad outdated and had a darker atmosphere. Not really a big issue and I actually would love to come back here to try other dishes.

A hole in the wall... and right in the middle of Whalley! i grew up in this neighborhood.. I remember going to Seven-Days-Foods for ingredients my mom couldn't get in regular grocery stores, and bag of rice was cheaper. I'm glad this area is being developed!

Alebi serves Western African, Nigerian cuisines! if you've ever worked with Nigerians or any Africans, you know they're hard working people! Their food is so tasty, flavorful and spices.. love the spices! Yes it can be spicy for some but not for me!
We ordered chicken Pepper soup, Jolloof rice with beef and chicken dish. The beef was a but tough but it was tasty. My mom loved the rice! She wants to learn how to cook it!

      I will be back again

My first time trying African cuisine and I love it! We both ordered the same dish, jolloff rice and fried chicken ($12.99), a drink called Malta and their palm wine.

The rice dish comes with fried chicken, fried plantain and a side salad. The fried chicken is amazing and reminds me of how my mom would make her fried chicken so definitely a favourite for me.

Would have gone more often if the place is closer to where I live.

I would give this place a solid 8/10. It's your typical no-frills Nigerian food spot with minimal smiles and crappy location with "blah interior". And oh, believe me its in a very crappy location. The restaurant is situated right next to a street that has homeless tents and strange druggies roaming around. Well on to the food (because normally west african restaurateurs dont care about ambience and decore lol) ...I ordered jollof rice with chicken. Food was very very good. I think I cleaned the bones. The prices were surprisingly decent (In LA, it's ass rape prices. in NY, it's slightly below ass rape prices). I actually came back a second time during my trip. Hopefully they are still around when I visit Vancouver again.

I ordered three times from this place. The first time was great, the food tasted good. the second time I did not get what I ordered ( got chicken instead of fish with red oil even though didn't ask for it.). Gave them a chance and ordered a third time and again got the wrong order! sorry but the delivery fee is too expensive for me to get the wrong order twice!

The food here is amazing, authentic and affordable. This restaurant and grocery is a little hole in the wall, but the food and owner were amazing! The owner is very nice, the food was warm and deliciously spicy. The jolloff rice was a great color, perfect texture with a slight kick. The rice was covered with the traditional pepper sauce which elevated the meal. The puff puffs were dense and had the perfect amount of sweetness to balance out the savory and spicy meal. This will be my go to the next time I have a craving for African food.
