Wesley and his team (Daniel and Omar) did a whole-house rewire to replace remaining knob-and-tube and other ungrounded wiring in our "new" 100+ year old house in Oakland. We got 3 other quotes for the work, and they varied significantly in price. Alley was the most affordable, and it came with the added bonus that we found Wesley the most down-to-earth and likable. He and his wife Alina make a great team --they're somewhat old school, and came by the house several times to collect our signed contract and payments.

The work took 2 weeks (10 days, Monday-Friday) for our 1800sqft home (+ unfinished basement and garage), which was about 3 days longer than predicted, but it was a big job! Daniel and Omar are two of the hardest working people we've come across. There were several days that they arrived at 7:30am and didn't leave until after 9pm. But whatever it took, they got the job done in a reasonable amount of time, were patient (especially when I was looking over their shoulders out of sheer curiosity) and communicative, and had good insights on what made sense (where lights/switches/etc should go) when we needed their opinions. Finally, they were both super pleasant to be around (which is important when they're spending so much time in your space!)

Two weeks after the job wrapped up, we actually asked Wesley to come back to put in a few more outlets and 6 recessed lights in our living room. The guys did a great job again. We're so happy we did this --we absolutely love our lights, and are really relieved we did the work before closing up the walls.

There's no doubt in my mind that we would work with Alley again, should a need arise.

Not sure why this place got so many good reviews on yelp?? Apparently it is really hard to schedule free estimation. Not flexible at all to schedule appointment in Fremont although it shows within the service zone on Yelp. First they said they can schedule but only at 7AM otherwise they asked me to find another company?? Apparently my small project does not worth their time.

There are other provide free estimations on Yelp I would definitely go there instead to save the hassles.

Sorry our schedules could not correlate, but coming to Fremont from Oakland before 7am or after 7pm is just not an option for us when our business hours are 7am-6pm Monday through Thursday.

Wesley and team did both interior and exterior electrical work for my house. The guys coming in to do the work are very methodical and professional. They are thorough and see and fix problems even if it is not exactly part of the contract and make sure to do the job right. For example my circuit breaker is old and had an overloaded wire that they noticed. They informed me and just went ahead and fixed it. It reduced one possible fire risk. Alina who manages the paperwork is super efficient and quick in responding.

I was able to find other guys out there doing electrical work on the cheaper side but I saw they don't have any quality in their work and often work without carrying sufficient insurance. I think Alley electric is excellent value because you get good quality, long lasting work.

I called Wesley for three separate jobs so far at my house. I will call him again if I need electrical work done in future.

While I didn't ultimately select Alley Electric, I thought the approach to the job that Wesley suggested, and a competitive bid made me confident in their capabilities.

This is the electric company I have used for the last 5 years and with complete satisfaction with the job every time. Wesley is a by-the-book electrician and always does work to proper specifications and safety. His assistants are equally talented but they will always consult Wesley if there is any question on the job that needs to get done.

      100% satisfaction !

Received bid to replace 4 garage fluorescent lights with less and install dedicated circuit for my plug-in hybrid. Highly recommended by my neighbors. Great service and prompt. Would use Alley electric again!

Really confused about all the good reviews.

We worked with Alley Electric back in December. The guy who came over to give the quote seemed very knowledgeable, but the guys he sent to actually do the work were AWFUL.

      Where do I begin...

      1) Messiness. Even though I specifically asked for them to leave their shoes off, they kept them on and tracked mud through the carpet. Also, they did not clean up their mess from cutting into the wall, so after they left I had to vacuum up after them. Oh, and they left tools everywhere and an entire box of equipment lol.

      2) Incompetence. They kept forgetting to do one part of the job (Ethernet cable installation) and had to come back multiple times because they either forgot to bring the right equipment or couldn't figure out how to get it working. They also clearly did not want to do this portion of the contract.

      3) Skill. They freaking installed the wrong type of outlet boxes. We *told them very specifically* that we're installing backsplash against a certain area (despite what the owner said in response, he wasn't there lol), and that requires an outlet box that moves in and out of the wall to accommodate the tile. Well, they forgot yet again. So now we have one box that moves and another that doesn't. We'll probably have to rip out the dry wall, redo the box, and repair it. Ridiculous.

At the end of the day, they basically created more work and cost for us than not.

I needed a couple of new outlets and an EV charger installed. Everyone I interacted with at Alley was friendly, attentive and great at what they do. Alina helped schedule everything without a hitch, answering a bunch of logistic questions from me with patience. Wesley quickly understood what I was looking for and promptly provided a reasonable quote for the job. Daniel and Omar were on time, completed the work quickly and left the work areas clean. And of course, the actual electrical work was great. I highly recommend Alley Electric!

I had two different electrical jobs I needed to sort and Alley really came through for me! Communication with Wesley, the owner, was first rate from the beginning and Wesley and Rodrigo arrived on time and completed the work quickly and efficiently. They did a super job of cleaning up, too. I highly recommend Alley!

      Updated review

If anyone needs skilled, reliable people to do electrical work around their house, I can absolutely recommend Alley Electric... They have done several jobs for us here (Fremont, CA), but today was the Big Job!! We have a 50+ year old house, and all the outlets were 2-prong old-school outlets when we moved in... well, now we have tons of modern electronics in our house, and things have been unstable for some time, to say the least!!

So I had them come back, and upgrade four of our heaviest-use outlets to 20-amp circuits, with their own breakers... it took them all day, but they did a superb job; everything is beautifully, neatly, professionally done... as an example, the light bulb in my office lamp no longer dims when I turn on our 1500W heater (as it did before)... and hopefully our furnace will no longer pop its circuit breaker, as it had done sometime over the past year...

Wesley is the owner, but the workers today were Daniel and another whose name (sadly) I just don't recall... but they sure know their work... Thank you again, Alley Electric!!
