My friend and I wanted to end our wonderful vacation with a memorable dinner and Alouette did not disappoint! We were fortunate to get a reservation at the last minute and were seated at the "best table in the restaurant," right by the fireplace. We ordered two appetizers (bone marrow and baked brie), and shared an entree (bouillabaisse) and dessert (crepe Suzette). We savored every dish that came out. We know there are so many wonderful restaurants in Vancouver, but would love to return for another meal like this one.

Alouette Bistro is an amazing restaurant! The interior is very pleasant and I am considering inviting friends and family here because my experience was superb.
Great deals on mussels, prawns, and escargot. The organic salad has a lovely light dressing and lovely texture with mushroom and pumpkin seeds. The crepe suzette is quite an experience and worth the splurge.
The staff was so good at refilling our water glasses and being available for everything right away. Stellar service all around. Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Michael G.East Side, Vancouver, Canada06Aug 22, 2024
My wife and I dined at Alouette Bistro last night and were highly impressed by the wonderful service we received from Morgan and Michael. It was our anniversary and we were greeted by a 'Happy Anniversary' postcard and two flutes of complimentary sparkling wine. Off to a wonderful start!
The appetizers were tasty (escargot + mussels & frites) and the rack of lamb & duck Cassoulet looked delicious. The Cassoulet was fairly good, though we had to add salt and pepper as it wasn't very flavourful, but the problem was with the rack of lamb. The portion was generous, but it was about 40% fat. One of the three pieces was perfect, one was pretty fatty and the other was mostly inedible. We didn't dsicover this until well into the meal (the fatty piece was the last we dug into). I suppose I could have sent it back at that point, but we were 2/3 through so we savaged a couple of bites from that piece and mentioned it to our server. He checked with the kicthen and came back with mild apologies and asked if I wanted to register a complaint. The evening had been wonderful overall, so I just accepted the result. For the price point of the entree ($66) and given that about 40% of the lamb was left on our plates, a small price reduction or complimentary dessert seemed to be in order, but when we not offered this, it wasn't that big of a deal as our experience had been quite good overall. We will likley be back as the service is wonderful and the ambiance is lovely. Just won't be ordering the rack of lamb again.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Jenne A.Chandler, AZ01361Jul 27, 2024
Excellent French bistro in downtown Vancouver. The food was oh so delicious. Every course was beautifully plated with bold flavors. Good portions too.
Paul was a wonderful server, very attentive with great recommendations. He knew the menu well and could easily accommodate my gluten free requests. Many items on the menu are either gluten free as is or can be slightly modified. They even brought out GF bread with the escargot for me (and left off the breadcrumbs, of course). Several vegetarian items (maybe vegan too).

We had dinner here the other night and enjoyed everything from service to food.
I booked a reservation thru Open Table and they were able to accommodate us earlier. The hostess was very kind and accommodating when I called.
My husband had the rack of lamb and said it was the best he's ever had. I had a crab pasta and it was delicious. Others in our party also enjoyed their meal. We had a chocolate bar dessert which I'm still thinking about. It was decadent and came with boysenberry sorbet.
Service was great and prices were fair considering the quality of our meal and the beautiful ambiance of the restaurant.
Definitely recommend this French restaurant!Helpful 10Thanks 2Love this 11Oh no 0 - 1992251Jun 12, 2024
Super delayed birthday celebration due to the snow but finally got to try this French restaurant in downtown!
The lamb rack was so so so so so good. I am so glad I got that! Between the onion tart and the vol-au-vent, I like the latter more. The puff pastry with the various vegetables and mascarpone was a great combination.
I am looking forward to trying le burger next time! Huge portions and it looked so delicious.
Service was professional and timely. It was a cozy and comfortable place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aug 2, 2024
Alouette in Vancouver offers an unforgettable culinary experience. The chickpea fries were an unexpected delight--crispy on the outside, tender inside, with a subtle, savory flavor that paired perfectly with their tangy aioli. The garlic mussels were a highlight, served in a rich, aromatic broth that was perfect for soaking up with the fresh, crusty bread. The cassoulet was a hearty masterpiece, featuring tender meats and perfectly cooked beans, all simmered to perfection in a deeply flavorful sauce. Their pasta dish, a standout on the menu, featured handmade pasta cooked al dente, with a sauce that balanced richness and freshness impeccably. The service was outstanding, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who ensured that every detail of the meal was perfect. Alouette is a must-visit for anyone seeking exceptional dining in Vancouver.

This was the last dinner of our mini vacation, and it was wonderful! Our server was very helpful with talking to the kitchen about our vegan options. We could have the chickpea fries, the ratatouille, and the vegetables du jour, so we ordered all three! They gave us a tomato sauce for our chickpea fries since we couldn't have the aioli. Everything was really good. The chickpea fries and ratatouille needed a touch of salt, but it wasn't a dealbreaker.
The atmosphere was very classy, and I loved the decor. It was certainly a fine dining experience without being too stuffy. It was also very affordable! Highly recommend!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 9, 2024
Beautiful restaurant, but there were a few misses for us....
Entered the restaurant at lunch just after 11 am...they advertise a burger with a beer or wine for 20 dollars. What they fail to do is let you know what type of burger...today's selection was a salmon burger...yea..no thanks.
Hub decided after hearing the review from me about this place to order the steak frites for 40 dollars...good price. So we both ordered that. Waitress asked if we wanted bread..we were not sure so we said yea ok...she did not say the bread was an up charge of 6 dollars...I don't think we needed it, however it was super delicious...it would have been nice to know there was an up charge.
Got our steaks, and although they looked delicious, they were overcooked.. my medium rare was a medium plus and hubs medium was a medium well...usually this is not a game changer, but the meat quality was not great. They say this is tenderloin so do not expect a filet...other reviews list "filet" and it is definitely not near that quality.
The saving grace was the peppercorn sauce..it was magnificent and the bernaise is probably the best and most fresh tasting I have ever had...sadly you don't want sauces to have to cover an expensive piece of meat.
Next time I will choose elsewhere for this price point .Helpful 3Thanks 2Love this 1Oh no 0 - 4014452Jun 23, 2024
Most everything was delicious - we did a casual walk in for a late dinner. Our server was very nice and attentive. We ordered the steak frites- flavor good but a little tough- pasta was delicious , salad was yum! And burger was on point. A little pricey, we are worth it.
