Not sure how this place got so many good reviews. I had the cheese omelette. It comes with toast and hash browns. I couldn't tell if I was eating the toast, the omelette or the hash browns. Everything tasted bland...and the same bland!!! I told my friend that I thought I might be getting Covid because I couldn't taste anything.

My friend doesn't cook, that's why he has been to this place a few times. I think it's time he learned to cook, because this food isn't even decent filler.

Sorry to all the fans, greasy spoons tend to have better tasting food than this!

The service is good, they keep filling up your coffee cups.

Found myself at work craving some good quality won ton soup, I've never been to Amelia's before and was pleased surprised to find this restaurant. I ordered their special which was, War Won Ton Soup, all fresh ingredients and tasted amazing. I'm very particular about my Won Ton Soup, since I make it homemade when time allows. I ordered in the restaurant for take out on my break from work, food was in my hands within 10 minutes and the women who owns the place was friendly and sweet.

Great old school greasy spoon restaurant...great prices and nice little place...nothing fancy but good food and nice people. Never been disappointed here yet...Two people can get breakfast and coffee for under twenty bucks....not many old school places left like this...I'd choose her any day or some big trendy expensive place anytime!!

Amelia is where I go for a quick, cheap, fast, and fresh breakfast. It's not ground breaking cuisine, it's bacon and eggs, toast, coffee, and some homemade hash browns that didn't come from a shredding machine.

I think loyal fans the other reviewer speaks of are going for breakfast at a fair price, with stellar service. If that's what you're looking for, come here.

$4.50 for 3 strips of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 full slices of toast, and hashbrowns, made fresh to order is a) cheaper than mcdonalds or anywhere else b) better for you than anything else at that price and c) filling for the day.

One note: CASH ONLY! DH and I usually leave an insane tip because 20 bucks for two breakfasts still seems fair to me (coffee & tea included)

I should try some of their asian fusion at some point... maybe the lemon chicken isn't stellar, but I think I saw mee goreng on the menu and I'd love to try it...

The owner is super friendly, the service is fast. The food is quite good. Bacon, eggs, hashbrowns and toast for $5.95 is hard to find. Quite tasty, and one of the few places that gets eggs right when I ask for basted. Like their coffee too. It's quickly become my favorite breakfast place. Only complaint would be that they are only open till 3:00 PM :( so I can't go there for bacon and eggs for dinner.

Being Cash only does not save you money in the long run. Like so many others, I never carry cash and therefore I will never be back for breakfast! Losing a customer over the % Visa charges you is not worth it. I would really think about looking at other payment options.

This was my mom's favourite restaurant but then she died. Good place for breakfast. Cheap. Fast, friendly service. Nice little Chinese lady. Leave nice tip. She remember.
The food tastes okay. I eat so fast I don't taste my food anyway. Not really too fancy. I fit right in. Thank you very much.

      First to Review

I don't know how old, exactly the Amelia Restaurant is, but the pink and white decor suggests that the last time they redecorated was in the pastel-obsessed '80s. In any case, it's a pretty popular spot for cheap breakfast specials and free refills.

But my reason for going was because I was craving lemon chicken - and Amelia is one of those old-school greasy spoons with "Chinese/Canadian food."

But horror of horrors, they did not have lemon chicken. I used a bad word, kinda loudly in the midst of the clientele of mostly senior citizens, but was forced to make do with sweet-and-sour pork. It was okay, and there was a lot of it, but it was no lemon chicken, to be sure. (The server also made me put it my own take-out container.)

I would probably go to Amelia again, as apparently the patrons are fiercely loyal and I'm curious about the reason for that. But they'd better have that lemon chicken: I'm still craving the diabolical stuff.

Longtime neighborhood diner with great breakfast and lunch comfort food and good Chinese dishes as well. Wor-wonton soup is excellent. Come back a couple of times and they'll probably remember your order.
