We have had Amerigas for many years. We live in a rural area where our heat, hot water, and stove all run on propane. As long as you are willing to check your propane levels weekly, expect to run out, be put on hold for 5-85 minutes, and be out of propane for a few days ... you'll be fine. If you want timely service, repair, or good customer service this is not for you. We have automatic refill which costs more but is supposed to ensure you won't run out. Their special algorithm is designed to look at your usage and adjust accordingly. I'm not sure who checks their math... but it doesn't work! Last year we ran out 3 times. The year before that one. It's December and we have already run out.
Remember all those things that run on propane? They all have pilot lights. Those all must be relit. The driver dutifully goes around and relighted those pilot lights for you- you think wow what great service! However because the Tank ran dry those lines now have air in them. When air goes to the spot where the flame was it goes out now you can't relate it. We have had no hot water for five days. I keep being told that someone will get back to me. That someone will be out that day. That someone will be out the next day. No it has not happened I've been on hold for three hours today with two different customer service reps I am not a happy customer.

We were no longer using this service and had struggled to get the empty tanks picked up from our Sacramento office. I had called the 800 number before and been given the run around several times. Today we called and spoke to Jennifer and explained our situation. Jennifer was more than accommodating in getting an order in the system to pick these up. She understood the seriousness of the situation in us needing the tanks removed as this a safety issue and something we need to get squared away prior to our facility audit. Definitely appreciate Jennifer going the extra mile to ensure this is completed for us in a timely fashion.

Customer service sucks and there's no one in the offices! I just wanted a tank to be picked up and they told me that they can't help me so I told them. Well I guess I can sell the tank!! Than they said they will pick it up! But you get people in the Philippines!! 10 phone call later I got some one in Ohio!!

Amerigas, a foreign controlled corp. fired its local customer service and farmed it out to the Philippines. If you have trouble their is no help for you.

Without warning they shut off service to an 80 year old autistic man for a twenty cents shortfall in payment. Even though the account had a $300.00 credit.

Without warning they shut off service to an 83 yr old man claiming a bill had not been paid, even though their own website said it had.

People are left o freeze for days while the confused service in the Philippines tries to figure it out. You and your pipes could freeze in the meantime. DO NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH AMERIGAS.

Horrible customer service! I have not had propane for two months. Not only is it difficult to get anyone to answer the phone when I did and I made an appointment to receive propane nobody showed up. I called and they said that I did not have an appointment, I'm done with this company! Stay away!

Horrible company with horrible employees and horrible customer service. We had an account for probably 30+ years, in the beginning we could call the local office and actually speak to a person to arrange for a delivery, now when you call you speak to someone in the Phillipines that is unable to schedule anything, they tell you it will arrive in 2 to 3 weeks. Our last delivery from them, the delivery driver used a hammer to break the combination lock off of the gate, and he let some cows out onto the county road. Most recently I called to order a propane delivery, went through the entire order process, the agent transferred me to their automated telephone credit card system, I went through the process and wrote down the transaction number etc. A week later I get an email that the delivery was canceled because it wasn't paid for. Long story short, they used my credit card for someone else's account, but couldn't find it. I ended up having to dispute the charge with my CC company. That was the last straw, I finally had a local company replace the Amerigas tank. Called amerigas and told them to come pick up their tank, 2 weeks later they show up at the BILLING address wanting the tank, had to explain that the tank was at the DELIVERY address. Idiots. The tank is finally gone and Amerigas is out of my life. If you need propane, look for someone local first. Amerigas is horrible now that they are corporate.

If you use Amerigas you should switch right now or be stung later.
I have used then for 15 years but their communication and service now has fallen off a cliff. They ran me out of gas and the people in the Philippians who manage customer service have no ability to help you. NONE!
AWFUL COMPANY. NO communication at all.

There is reason why it's closed down. You will never be able to speak to any direct employee. If equipments become fault, good luck getting it fixed. Had been with them for over 20 years but the drove me out.

I have been a customer of Amerigas for the last 8 years and I have never had as bad of an experience as I have in the last few weeks. I had a home inspection done and the report said they smelled some propane. I call in, and yes it's now to a Philippines call center as others have reported. They tell me I'm going to be charged $100 if I ask for a technician to come out, so the better thing to do is just wait for my normal delivery which should be in a few days. So I wait a few weeks, I call back in and ask when they will be showing up bc I may have a small leak. This time the guy says "oh a leak? We can have someone come out immediately!" At no charge I ask, "yes no charge!" So first thing I get is a $109 bill and ZERO communication that it was fixed. I call in pretty upset and I get transferred to a "manager" who obviously was an American. She was sympathetic and agree it was unacceptable and told me someone will get dispatched immediately to fix itS. So no one is home because we both work, we find out that the technician who originally showed up shut off our propane as well as locked it. Had no idea until we realized we had no hot water. So the next guy shows up a day later and actually was nice, we asked for our tank to be filled 50% because we are selling the home. He said no problem, I will put that order in. Guess what, they show up the next day and fill the tank 100%. We ask what happened and they said "oh. No one communicated that's what you wanted." This is the WORST customer service experience I've had in years, from a company who used to be alright in my book. If I weren't selling my home I would 100% be leaving this company, I don't care about cost either. If this were a few years ago I'd be giving anyone I know a positive recommendation. If you're reading this review choose ANY other company over Amerigas. Or you'll end up paying for it later. The 1 star reviews I just read before writing this one confirms my experience is not an isolated one.

Track your meter readings. Do not expect any help from the (outsourced) customer service department. They are USELESS. 1) they talk over you, 2) they do not listen and 3) they do not care or wish to help you. You are on your own. Absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced.

Horrible company to deal with. Please keep in mind all their horrific fees. When stopping service with them they will refund you for the propane in the tank. but then bill you for stop service fee of $320 total & also bill the new tenants the cost of the propapne they've refunded you. Stay away, go with a different company
