    About the Business

Japanese cuisine is world-famous, but there is so much food in Japan. Teriyaki chicken is of the most common (and tasty) Japanese dishes. The word yaki means literally “grilled.” This dish is prepared by grilling chicken dressed with a delicate sauce of mirin, soy sauce, sake (Japanese rice wine). Champon may look like ramen at first sight (and you could say it belongs to the same category), but it’s different and unique. So if you want to taste something traditional, don’t miss out on this dish.

Ambiance- Clean, indoor outdoor dining, welcoming "midnight diner" like feel, not big but certainly full of character

Service- truly reminded me of Japan! Local places there, you order via machine and bring tab to the server once seated. This updated place has the touchscreen kiosk machine, and just get seated, food will be brought to your table. Was greeted once we entered, checked in on us, and met us as we left. Impressive as it looked like a one person business, but well thought out and certainly felt served.

Food- Champon ramen is a must! Esp if you like you veggies as my partner does. Unbelievably tasty grilled chicken topping, perfect chewy noodles, and can't get enough of broth. Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen had a distinctive broth, may look like the champon but it really tastes different and yummy. Love that the menu is simple, focused, very Japanese.

Check it out, your lost is my gain

This is a great spot with one chef running the show. He is not able to greet you much because he's busy cooking, and so the place is highly dependent on the kiosk. But the food is made to perfection and very delicious.

We ordered the sesame chicken bento and the tonkatsu ramen - black (which has sesame oil in it). The chicken is perfect tender and moist and it's pretty impressive the balance between tender and crispy. The bento also comes with edamame, steamed broccoli, and potstickers. The ramen was also fresh, with really good noodles.

Overall it was a great experience here and the place seems to have a steady stream of customers looking for some good food. Glad to have this place close by.

This has to be the best ramen restaurant in the Bay Area. Been back a few times already. The Tonkotsu Ramen I had was one of the best, the broth was very flavorful and tasty.

The ordering process is pretty easy, you order through a kiosk and pay with card or pay cash with the cashier. Your food will be ready in about 10 to 15 minutes.

Small restaurant with maybe about 10 to 15 seats with animate wall papers.

One of my favorite ramen spots! The flavor of each ramen is so unique and is done perfectly. Prior visits I've tried Seafood ramen, Chipotle ramen, miso ramen(limited time), and tonkatsu (red) ramen. The flavors are subtle to each respective ramen you choose, not too salty, not too fishy, not tooo chipotle-ee. It's done perfectly so that you can enjoy your soup!

I tend to go with a friend or my parents or just by myself. Great place if youre an introvert. Just pay at kiosk and sit and wait for your ramen to be served!

All my visits I've noticed this might be a one man show, aka one person doing most if not everything. Cooking, cleaning taking cash orders (yes they accept cash just have to wait for the kind chef to come out or ring the bell once).
If you order soda wait for the server/chef to come out, so you can pick out which one (coke, sprite, etc)
The ambience is great, there's 2 TVs for good background noise, one plays random commercials? And the other plays a mix of jpop, kpop, vocaloid etc. Music videos.

Still trying to figure this part out. But there's signs that says to empty dish out and leave it at a designated spot. I think that's there incase it's full and it'll help out this one-man-show business out if you return your dishes (maybe incase too busy?), but again that's up to you!

Stumbled across this little gem while visiting the Bay Area. I would love this place back home. The food was fresh and quality. Huge portions and reasonable prices. One of the better chicken katsu I've had. Highly recommended.
We ordered through the kiosk, so can't say much about the cashier service but food was delicious so service was nice.

Love this place, one of the best ramen in the east bay. Menu is not extensive but what he does offer, he does well (ramen, champon, bento). I say he because the owner is a one man show. Well worth the wait, when craving some authentic Japanese food.

For the price and quality of food, this is a 5-star! Just don't expect to have a high end dining experience and expect to wait a while as the chef is the owner and also the cashier. If you have the patience and are willing to eat in plastic bowls with plastic utensils (or take it home), you really can't beat the value. My ramen came with 5 pieces of chasu and a full soft boiled egg which is double what you'll get at most other ramen spots. The noodles were cooked to perfect and the broth was flavorful and hot! The soy wings were also delicious and could have been a meal by themselves since they came with fries.

Overall, just a great addition to the San Leandro food scene and I hope it sticks around for a long time to come!

Small lil ramen shop that is run by the cook/owner. You order from the kiosk and we picked the black ramen and the tonkatsu red ramen and the spicy chicken wings.

Black Ramen - 2/5 I didn't like the flavor of the broth, it was very mild and oily and tbh it just didn't go far for me. The jammy eggs were very good and there was a good amount of toppings. I didn't like the ramen noodles - yes it was springy and had a good chew but it definitely had a lil bit of ?baking soda taste which made me not enjoy the noodles as much

Red Tonkatsu - 4/5 the noodles had the same baking soda taste but this was masked a lot more by the spicy broth. It also came with a lil bit more spicy chili on the side so that was nice

Spicy garlic wings with fries - 3/5 too salty. The wings were a good size but I ate one and gave the rest to my bf. The fried pickles were nice and I did really enjoy those (you can also purchase this). The fries were seriously lacking flavor. Wish it had a lil salt tossed in there

No water to drink unless you buy the bottled kind so bring your own water bottle.

Overall price is good and I might stop by again to get a quick lunch. Maybe will try the rice plates next time.

Amazing amazing ramen!!! My husband and I both ordered the black garlic ramen and we were not disappointed. It had so much depth of flavor and was not salty or artificial tasting like some other ramen broths can be. The noodles were perfectly al dente, the egg's yolk was nice and jammy, and a healthy portion of chashu (3 big pieces) with mushroom and bean sprouts. I also really appreciated that the broth was piping hot!

You order at the kiosk and the amazing chef brings you your ramen. I would recommend bringing your own water because they only have bottles for $1.50.

This is my new go to ramen spot in San Leandro. Love it!

Aoi is a small one-man shop right on Washington and with a shared parking lot. The inside is recently renovated and clean. You pay at the kiosk with card or at the register with cash and the owner goes to the back to cook your food.

I have yet to try their ramen but I always get their chicken wings! Either flavor is good, they are always fresh, crispy, and juicy (I hate dry chicken wings). And the sauce they are coated in is incredible. The wings come in a 6 piece with fries, a fried pickle slice, and a sauce. It can be a bit heavy, (but what wings and fries aren't?) so I often have leftovers. This is my go to for chicken wings in the area.
