Apple Stoves

I am very impressed. I own a huge 60" Garland commercial stove made for residential use. Two ovens, six burners, broiler, griddle and plate warmer. It was installed in my home brand new in November of 1992 by someone else. For 24 years, this stove has been fabulous while I watched of all my other appliances break down and have to be replaced and fixed over and over again. Well, after all of these years, first my left oven went out and then my right oven went out, ugh. Thanksgiving is almost here. Recognizing that not everyone can work on this stove, I did a search of the internet and found these people. They came out on Tuesday and fixed both ovens, calibrated them and fixed one of my stove top burners which was slow to light. The bill: $404.25. Very reasonable and I couldn't be happier. I am now ready for the Holidays. I will definitely call them again.

We found this very honest and quality shop, one of the few places servicing vintage stoves, to be a lucky find. Our chromed stove top was sorely in need of replacement and a tune up. We had looked around for a replacement stove when we discovered that the Apple Stove folks would do it all and for a better price than the alternatives.

The stove top was returned to us in beautiful shape but after a year or so we noticed that the chrome was peeling in a few places. We hadn't bothered to ask about the warrantee period, but it turns out that it had passed. Nonetheless, this mom and pop shop which meets its customers needs through a sub contract, took responsibility for this and had it chromed again without any additional cost and provided a loaner stovetop while the work was being done. Old fashioned customer service at its best. Thanks!

The pilot light went out on my antique Wedgewood stove. My contractor tried to light it, but couldn't, He suggested that I call Apple. I'm glad I did! Chris was able to get my oven's pilot light lit in a matter of minutes. Appreciate Chris and the great job he did!

Apple stoves repaired our old Wolf range a few years back and it has worked like a charm ever since. Today the stove wouldn't light so we called them again. They answered the phone, after closing, and told us how to find the reset button which instantly fixed the problem without having a service call. So thankful for your help, you are wonderful! We will definitely use you if needed again and recommend you whenever we can!

Great service for peoples' prices. They genuinely like to fix old stuff! Chris was amiable, thorough, and skillful. I had an old natural gas free-standing Spark heater (made in Oakland!) that was gasping for breath. A decrepit gem! Chris tested all the valves and then took the appliance to the shop to be disassembled and to clean the burner/burner jets. He got it back to me in 2-3 days!

I own a 1950 O'Keefe & Merritt that I purchased from a cousin in 1972. It has been an incredibly functioning appliance. But last year I noticed that the oven took forever to preheat. Certainly not optimum for any purpose.
I made an appointment for a service call with Apple Stoves. I am very happy that I did.

I have a vintage 1950's style wedgewood stove. I wanted to have the manifolds (inner parts of the burners) cleaned up & restored. As a lifelong East Bay resident I was happy to an East Bay company to do the work. I was quoted a price & time frame for that work. I dropped 2 out of my 3 manifolds off knowing it would take 6 weeks and paid in full for the work. This was on 4/19/22.

It is now 10 weeks later and I still don't have my manifolds. I keep getting excuses. At first the company they send them out to were behind. Now Apple Stoves somehow missed UPS each time they attempted to deliver & UPS sent them back. Honestly I can't believe this is how a business is run. I have only 1/3 of a functional stove and no clue when or where the rest of the pieces are.

DO NOT USE APPLE STOVES unless you have no concerns as to when the work gets done. If you have all the time in the world, and you're ok with the staff at Apple Stoves not caring that they can't keep to their own time frame, then this is the company for you.

I will update this review if and when I ever get my burner manifolds back.

I had Apple stoves come some distance to repair my 1930s Wedgewood stove. I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Christopher was so knowledgeable and patiently repaired everything. The oven door was being held up with a bungee cord, my broiler drawer was off its runners, and one of my burner knobs stopped at 2 o'clock instead of straight up at 12 o'clock. I honestly didn't think it was repairable. I had actually been shopping for other stoves, but I wanted to give one last effort. Apple stoves traveled from Oakland down to Santa Cruz two days after I requested service. Christopher spent several hours repairing my lovely stove and amazingly, it is now as good as new with new springs and hinges for the door, the runners for the broiler drawer were repaired as was the burner knob. He checked my oven insulation as well. It was worth every penny, and I am thrilled. Thank you Christopher and Apple stoves.

Apple Stoves was great to work with: Laura was responsive to our numerous inquiries, and when we decided to go ahead with the repair, Chris was prompt, congenial, and supremely competent. He explained each stage of the procedures he recommended, conducted numerous safety checks along the way, invited me to watch him at work, and finished the job on time and within a few dollars of his estimate.

Details: We have a gorgeous 1950s O'Keefe & Merritt that we were preparing to retire, but discovered that a modern replacement would cost many thousands of dollars and involve a 3-12 month wait, plus an expensive electrical upgrade to our (1940s) house. After much soul-searching we opted to repair what we have and I do not for a minute regret that decision. It looks great, works great, and our concerns about safety have been resolved.

Bottom line: Apple Stoves exceeded our expectations and I can recommend them without reservation.
