I recently had Neal and his team out to waterproof my patio and staircase leading from the patio into the garage; the patio which is above the garage was leaking onto our cars and causing the concrete ceiling to crumble.

Neal's team were excellent. They showed up on time when they said they would be there, were very thorough with the work performed, and I couldn't be happier with the end result. What started out as a nice outdoor space with a somewhat tired surface has been transformed into a clean sharp looking patio, which is now waterproofed against the elements.

While I hope I won't need to have Neal come again any time soon, I would not hesitate to recommend the team to anyone looking for waterproofing work and I know who I'll be calling should the need arise.

Neal and his crew at Applied Waterproofing came to our rescue this winter! My family owns an apartment building in San Francisco with a large deck that began leaking. After meeting with several waterproofing contractors in San Francisco, I was pretty frazzled, as I got very conflicting (and some very expensive) proposed solutions to fix the leak. I then got on Yelp and found some very positive reviews for Applied Waterproofing in Hayward and decided to give Neal a call. I found him to be very informative, very honest, and felt that he really knew his craft. So, Neal came out, looked at the deck, proposed a solution that made sense to me, and that was very reasonably priced.

I had the deck work done in January. It was a little dicey, as the conditions were not prime (the weather was a bit cold/wet) for installing a waterproof membrane but Neal made his best estimate on the weather conditions and guaranteed his work. As the deck was leaking, we decided to go forward with the work. The good news is that the deck has not leaked a bit. It's been a relatively dry winter, but we have had a few storms that would have produced a leak before the new membrane, but the deck remained waterproof. What a relief! We did have a small problem crop up in the last week, with the texture coat (top coat) chipping a bit, likely due to the weather conditions when the coating was originally applied. I emailed Neal and he promptly contacted me and without hesitation stood behind his work. He will be out right away to patch or replace the top coat.

The deck looks great, Neal and crew did a wonderful job, and Neal stands behind his work. I am very happy with Applied Waterproofing and would not hesitate to hire them again or to recommend them.

7/2/15 - Have been in touch with Neal at Applied Waterproofing Systems since last year and was waiting for the weather to get warm to install waterproofing on the second floor deck of my fourplex which is above the carport. He is very efficient at returning emails and getting back to me. The job has been scheduled and I will post before and after photos once it starts. He came highly recommended so feel confident the job will be done properly.

We had been struggling with a leaky tile deck in our backyard for two years. It is over living space and during heavy storms, would leak into the room below. Not only was this an issue, but whenever the deck was wet with dew or rain, it was slick as ice. I wanted to have it waterproofed in a more affordable manner than completely re-doing the deck.

Neal and his two employees arrived the first day and promptly began working. They were very detailed with their work, acknowledging every possible place where the water could enter. They finished the 3-step process very efficiently and timely. I am very pleased with how it came out! There is a texture to it which now will prevent slipping when wet, and all previous leaking areas have been sealed.

I couldn't be happier with Neal and the crew, and of course, the finished product! Thank you!!

We bless the day we glommed on to Neal Golding and his Applied Waterproofing services. Based in Hayward, the company serves the entire Bay Area.
Last winter, the weatherworn bricks on our front balcony began to leak copiously into an alcove adjoining our downstairs bedroom. There's nothing like the sound of gushing water to strike terror in a homeowner's heart.
We immediately contacted two local waterproofing contractors for an evaluation and estimate. Each of them recommended a virtual rebuilding of the front of our house -- demolishing the entire brick facade and replacing it with stucco. Upshot: 2 estimates -- one for $37,000 and the other for $43,000. No way could we, on a small retirement income, spring for such a draconian fix.
Our peerless contractor, Dave Ford, suggested we contact Neal for a different approach, involving a resurfacing of our balcony and increasingly porous front steps. Within 5 days, Neal's competent crew had sanded down all of our exterior brick surfaces and applied an impermeable coating. When we called about a hairline crack that appeared a few weeks after completion, Neal's men were out here in record time to take care of it.
Even with the steady assault of this December's downpours, our interior remains snug and dry. An unanticipated plus is that the spiffy new black surface enhances the look of our boring 1950s house.
The cost for this wonderful solution -- $3,950! And the icing on the cake is that Neal's workmanship comes with a 5-year warranty. He's a terrific find.

Update: we had a couple of places that cracked a little and the crew did a bogus job of repainting it so you could tell it had been fixed. Neal himself came up and redid it. No attitude, just reliable, honest, low-key Neil. Again, I wish I could give him six stars.
