About the Business
The Arata Pumpkin Farm is the oldest working pumpkin farm in San Mateo County, California. Pumpkins have been a way of life at the farm since 1932. Not only do we offer pumpkins, we also have a petting zoo, pony rides, a haunted barn, horse-drawn hay rides and a labriynth straw maze for the kids and adults. New attractions include a mini colosseum, Greek ruins, and real gladiators facing off against a minotaur!

Q:
Is there a promo code that people can use upon checkout? Is it better to purchase online with the convenience fee, or in person upon arrival?
A:
No discount code currently available. It's better to purchase tickets on site to avoid the online convenience fees. There were no lines for entry or attraction tickets when we visited on a weekend.

How scary is their haunted house? Do you think a 7 year old would be able to handle it?
A:
Yes, it's really not that scary. And it's super short, like less than a few minutes through usually

I had a pleasant time visiting Arata's Pumpkin Farm with my friends. I think this is one of the best ones I've visited so far.
There are plenty of activities for the kids (and adults!). We bought the Haunted Barn & Maze combo which I thought was decently priced. There's no entrance and parking fee (unlike other pumpkin patches), so we only paid for the activities and pumpkins.
- Haunted Barn: This was very scary for the kids as I noticed a lot of them came back out after a few seconds inside. For adults, it was not scary at all, but I think what made it scary for kids is that it was complete darkness inside, which I thought was not really a great idea since we didn't know where the path is going most of the time. There's an occasional worker who does jump scares, but they are well beyond the borders of the horror displays. I thought the displays were pretty good for a pumpkin patch horror house. A suggestion I have is that there should be some lights that lead to where the path is going.
- Maze: The maze was huge and many adults inside it were completely lost as I was. There are some areas inside the maze with displays, so you can stop by for a photo. There are a lot of pathways that are long but ended up being a dead-end. I was extremely satisfied with it.
We also received a $10 pumpkin voucher at the entrance which is enough to buy a few of the smallest pumpkins. They have a variety of pumpkins in sizes and colors.
Overall, what made this experience a lot better compared to other pumpkin patches is the weather. It was not scorching hot, but it can be cold, so please bring a sweater. There is a snack shack with general options such as chips, soda, candy, etc.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Ron A.San Jose, CA0146Oct 23, 2023
Be aware of the $20 charge to park (no alternative street parking available). Activity price list includes $18 per person for hay maze; $20 playland; $10 haunted house; $8 petting zoo; $10 pony ride; $8 hay ride; $8 train ride. The underwhelming activities do not justify the pricing.

It was our first time going to this Pumpkin Farm. My family enjoyed it and would definitely recommend families looking for a one stop shop for the fam and kiddos to stop on by. They have an elaborate corn maze, a petting zoo, tons of pumpkins, Brussel sprouts right off the stock a tiny haunted house and tons of aesthetic landscape for photos.
All have fees that are decent priced given it's a local farm and small business. 60 bucks will get you a pass for all amusement options and with a purchase of a pumpkin or Brussel sprouts you get a 10 payback voucher from your parking ticket that will cost 20 bucks.
It's an experience filled with memories and dogs are welcome.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - M.L M.South San Francisco, CA043192Nov 8, 2023

Arata's Pumpkin Farm is located in the beautiful Half Moon Bay. I came with my family mid October close to 6PM. While we had fun, I thought it was expensive given the quality. It was very nickel and dimed. Nothing was free.
Upon driving in, we had to pay $20 for parking. It came with a $10 voucher for pumpkins, but we didn't originally intend on buying any pumpkins.
After entering, we walked around a bit and checked out their decorations and character cut outs. They had some cute decorations of the Sanderson sisters.
Then we bought tickets for their hay maze, which was $20 a person (because it was past 6PM). The maze was long and complicated, which was fine. It took us around 1 hour to get through the maze. They also had some people standing on the hay bales helping you.
While they had a lot of activities and plenty of pumpkins to choose from, I probably wouldn't return again given that everything cost money.Helpful 8Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 1 - Lena M.SoMa, San Francisco, CA231Oct 22, 2023
We have been coming here for YEARS and their hay maze is always awesome (if you're up for a challenge). But for every year they gain popularity, they increase prices or start charging for things they didn't used to charge for. When we first came here, all the activities were like $5/person and parking was free. Today, the maze ALONE was $18/person, including for our 8yo, and we were surprised to be charged $20 TO PARK OUR CAR. There's nothing to do here that doesn't cost money. Not to mention the $5 "convenience fee" if you try to pay online...which you then have to STILL go to the counter for. Oh! But they do give you a $10 coupon towards their merch ::eyeroll:: (which I've also heard is severely overpriced). Major rip off. We'll find another maze next year.

Arata Pumpkin Farm is great!! I had a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
I found Arata on YELP (thanks, YELP!) on Monday 10/4/21, so I called and spoke with Chris (who was great!). Chris's willingness to support my vision was good outstanding! I love how he saw my vision with me and rose to the immediate challenge.
My goal was to have some pumpkin display looking clusters for the fall. Although my yard needs a trim, (we're leaving it unruly for Halloween: it's purposed), the trim has nothing to do with how fabulous the clusters of pumpkins are.
Although they don't have many displays of this sort in their site, they have the pumpkins, so yuh can work with it.
I'll definitely be contracting them again!Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - Amber E.Turlock, CA8310614Oct 8, 2023
Overpriced af. They charge $20 to park which wouldnt be bad if there was anything to do there that was free. Instead it's all super expensive for what are very basic attractions. It was also really muddy and the pumpkins were also outrageously expensive. It's worth making the drive to Del Osso Farms

Literally, this place is great. Except the petting zoo. It's disgusting how clear the neglect is for their animals. Kids running around and tormenting their animals. With zero supervision by the staff. Do better.
