Words of the wise: the longest relationship you will ever have is the relationship you have with yourself.

In other words: treat yo' self.

Our group of 3 girls treated ourselves to a "Day of Retreat," this past Sunday, which (for $140) includes:
      - A 50-minute full body massage
      - A class at Asha Yoga
      - Unlimited time at the bathhouse (including in/out privileges for the day)
      - Towel service (others have to rent)
      - A local fresh pressed juice (in the cooler at the front desk)

We had to call ahead with our credit card information, which they only held for cancellation purposes, and then we sent in a form with our preferences for the massage. We also scheduled our day with an associate to make sure everything ran smoothly: first, a 90 minute yoga session with Emily, then a few hours to soak in the bath house, then our massage. We had in/out privileges for the day, but slipped away after the yoga session for a quick lunch in downtown. Here's the breakdown:

Massage: this was located in a separate building from the bathhouse, but in the same lot. Our yoga class was the Zen yoga class, led by Emily. It lasted about 90 minutes, which sounds a lot longer than it felt. I had never been to a yoga class, and I was surprised by how easily I could follow along. Emily was really nice and not condescending at all as she guided us novice yogis into the correct form. Although the class was full, I didn't feel intimidated at all because everyone was so nice and helpful. This was a really positive first yoga class for me.

Bathhouse: this had 4 components -- the heated pool, cold tub (like, the opposite of a hot tub, duh), steam room, and sauna.
      - Heated pool: this was nice, a bit cooler than your regular hot tub, but more spacious. I didn't smell the chlorine like other Yelpers had complained about. There were a few chairs and lounger chairs littered around the pool.
      - Cold tub for the "cold plunge." I understood the logic: warm yourself up in the steam room and/or sauna, then do a cold plunge, soak in the heated pool, rinse and repeat. But it was just cold. And not refreshing for me, at least.
      - Sauna: this is a very hot, very dry room. I didn't go in here more than once, because it was just like standing outside in Sacramento during the middle of July. And I don't like standing outside in Sacramento in July.
      - Steam room: this was DEFINITELY my favorite room. There's a little button on the side of the room to release 10 mins of steam in case the steam settles, but mind you: it's HOT. Also, there's this spray bottle of Eucalyptus oil mixed with water that you can use periodically. The smell is so lovely that I wanted to take it home. I visited this room over and over again.
I had a great experience in the bathhouse, but also keep in mind: it's small and I can see it getting cramped if there were more people. When we went, there were probably no more than 5-10 people cycling in/out of the different areas.

Massage: This part was my favorite. When we checked in, they asked us for our massage preferences, including whether or not we preferred male/female masseuse, targeted/general body massage, and where our target areas were. Usually, whenever I tell a massage place that I prefer firm/deep massage, they don't give me someone who uses firm pressure throughout. Instead, it's like, they go hard at first then get tired. My masseuse was Jessica and this was not the case; she used the perfect pressure for each of my problem areas and I left my session feeling like she slipped me a sedative. I know I didn't fall asleep -- but somehow I still woke up.

Something that keeps me from giving it 5 stars: the prices are pretty steep and the perks are slim for the amount you're paying. I feel like they should include towel service/slippers without having to pay, even if you only book a massage. The amenities are limited: only lemon-infused water and shower gel are complimentary. Also, for couple's massage, you just pay double the price ($200) instead of them cutting even $10 off your total bill. I feel like I'd totally bring friends and/or the husband if it weren't for the prices. Anyway, overall a very good find, will probably be my go-to massage place.

I've had the absolute pleasure of visiting Asha 3 times now! I am thinking back to why I didn't leave a review for visit 1 or 2. And tbh I think I was so relaxed and care free I forgot to do it! But now that I'm coming back to my senses I can rave about this Sacramento gem.

Walking in you're greeting by a friendly staff that always offers to walk you through offerings and services as well as a quick tour of the changing area. You change (leaving any electronics in your locker) and head to help yourself to 2 hours of soaking, steaming and plunging. I love their open concept of pick your own. I like to go right into the sauna, take a rinse and then head in to the back soaking pool. And of course gotta cold plunge at least once. I love to bring a book and hang out in the outdoor patio which is cleverly disguised from seeing anything outside that may be a distraction.

I visited with girlfriends the first few times and it was a great way to connect. And this last time I brought my husband and it was such a nice day date that we want to repeat monthly!

I opted in for the DIY face masks on my last visit and loved the extra pampering. The great thing about it is you get to take the whole thing home and I've been spritzing myself with the citrus toner for days.

Go to Asha solo or with a friend it's enjoyable either way. But remember to keep quiet and focus on relaxing and resetting.

Loved this. Went for a date and it was actually pretty nice to see how willing someone was to try something new.

Really relaxing and quiet. Be aware that they have quiet hours and they will ring a bell if you're being too loud.

I forgot a towel and was easily able to rent one.

I find it disappointing that the response from the manager to my review did not address:
      -ADA safety
-Pools of standing water throughout facility (unsanitary & a slip hazard)
      -Staff looking into my bag

Of course I do not have photos as no electronic devices are permitted once inside. I do not understand why drains are not installed after reading multiple comments complaining about the puddles everywhere.

As my wife and I advance in our respective careers and grapple with life-work (this is the order that it should be sequenced in) balance , we are intentional about scheduling time for some form of self-care. Therefore, I was ecstatic when my wife informed me that she had booked a morning appointment for 45 minutes of salt therapy and 45 minutes of Sound Immersion (the "Deep Rest" package). With a backpack containing a paperback book (e-readers are not allowed), towel, and a change of clothes - I was ready for some R&R! Upon entry, we were greeted by a friendly employee who check us in and provided us with lockers (don't forget to exchange your locker key for your ID at the end of your experience).

At the salt therapy room, we were warmly greeted by an employee who instructed everyone in the room to utilize the provided ear plugs and eye mask. For 45 minutes, we relaxed on the super comfortable Fatboy (I'm surprised the company is able to get away with that name in 2024) beanbags and inhaled the calming dry salt into our airways and lungs. Like clockwork, we were awakened by a gentle bong signaling that the session was over. Following the salt therapy, the same employee escorted us into a treatment space with two well-padded relaxation tables. Using the noise cancelling headphones provided, we were immersed in a combination of tranquil sounds and vibrations (we need a set up like this in our home).

The conclusion of the sound immersion session ended our guided activities for the day; however, the R&R experience was not over yet! We still had two hours to experience the bathhouse's common areas. Joining for this portion of the experience, one of our favorite couples accompanied us to the sauna (they have two), steam room, soaking pools, and the infamous cold plunge (this is not for the faint of heart). One of the most difficult things was keeping our voices down to a whisper in these areas and I will admit that there were a few times where our group (in collaboration with other groups), were recipients of the gong indicating that you need to shut the ___ up!

This was our second visit to Asha and similar to the first time, we left with that euphoric feeling of being drunk on relaxation. During a time where anxiety is at an all-time high and folks are looking for healthy methods to cope with stress, I HIGHLY recommend visiting Asha for a dose of serenity!

      What a relaxing experience!

This urban bath house is a rejuvenating hidden gem. I've driven by it many a time, not realizing what was hiding inside. There are several saunas, steam rooms, cold plunges, and wam relaxation pools, as well as shower facilities and an outdoor sunning patio, which are all included in the entry fee. Massages and the salt room can also be booked in advance. Overall: this was incredibly relaxing, my body felt great, And I can't wait to come back!

      A few tips and rules:
-bring several towels (one is needed to sit on in the sauna/steam room)
      -bring flip flops
-you must unplug (all electronics must be left in your locker)
-stay hydrated (there are several water stations throughout the baths)
-soft voices. This is a quiet and relaxing place

My girlfriend and I came here for a late Mother's Day retreat! Check in was fairly easy because we made an appointment and we got our lockers once we gave them our IDs to keep.

The shower and fitting rooms are coed, so keep this in mind. You can shower but obviously bathing suits stay on, changing room was roomy inside but the whole area is tight with lockers and lots of foot traffic.

They have signs everywhere that encourage you shower first, sauna or steam, they have an ice plunge, and to large warm soaking baths for you to enjoy. They discourage any type of electronics, and speaking is down to a whisper. Although I didn't hear it while I was there, they do bang a gong to remind you to keep quiet if it gets too loud.

There's a nice lounging area outside where you can talk a little louder, plenty of lounge chairs for you to soak up the sun.

We started our morning with a massage, and the massage was great but pretty basic. No nice aromatherapy scents, just low lights, basic lotion, and typical massage. I do give props to my masseuse for listening to me and really concentrating most of his time on areas I wanted him to focus on.

Fun and relaxing, you can bring your own water bottles to refill at their water stations. Fun for you, a friend, couples, and a group of friends who are just looking to unwind and relax.

I had a good experience at Asha, great place to unwind and decompress. Parking is free located right in the back. It is a place with no phones so you can really focus on decompressing. Be sure to bring swim wear to change to. When you first walk in you are able to shower to get clean and get in the cold pool. then have options to get in the hot pool , steam room and sauna. After the sauna they have a cold plunge you can do and that was my favorite part. It was so refreshing. They have add ons like massages and facials. When you leave they have an outside patio where it's social hour and you can talk and lay on the pillows and look at the sky. This was a much needed relaxation time for me and I will definitely be back.

I was gifted a spa day by my boyfriend at Asha Urban Baths and I was very excited to finally check this place out as I've been seeing it around for a while now.

      First impression:
Place was very clean and staff were friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were very informative and explained the bathhouse and how it works and answered any questions I had. They directed me to the locker and explained what I needed to do and where I needed to go for my massage, distinguished the pools and their purpose and showed me the wet and dry sauna.

      Massage:
The 50 minute massage was what was included in my package. Prior to the massage I filled out a questionnaire asking the areas of concern that I would like the masseuse to target and how much pressure I would like for her to use. After that I was led upstairs and into a small dark room that had an aromatherapy humidifier and candle lit. The room smelled so good and it definitely set the tone for relaxation. After I've changed to my level of comfort, the masseuse came in and the massage started. If I'm being honest, I can't really remember much of how it went cause I fell asleep because of how relaxed I was LOL. Overall I would say the massage was great.

      The baths:
After the massage, I followed the directions of the bathhouse and went to the hot pool first. The pool was clean and relaxing. After the hot pool soak, I went into the wet sauna. The wet sauna could be a bit cleaner in my opinion. After that you rinse and go into the cold soak. That cold soak GETS YA. Holyyyy, it was painful but honestly much needed especially for those who work out regularly. It relaxed my muscles so much and after redoing the steps 3 or so more times, I felt so refreshed.

Overall I had a great experience at Asha and would definitely go back again. I would also highly recommend it to friends who need a little relaxation day.

My hubby treated to a spa day and we came here. We had such wonderful and relaxing experience. The staff were great and guided us on how to use the amenities. I love how they offer everything I pretty much love, spa soak, sauna, steam room and cold plunge. We plan on returning and trying the other services they have. The drive is worth it!
