      Con Artist!!!!

      AST came to repair my furnace. Two men came and after looking at the furnace for about 20 minutes they explained that the problem was with a particular part that they did not have with them. Then they wrote down their quote for the part and the repair. According to them the part would cost $325, labor would be $120 and taxes would be $60 totaling $505. They showed me the part that needed to be placed and I questioned them on the cost immediately. They stood by their word. I then got my husband on the phone and while he was talking to them I was searching the internet for that part. The most I saw it selling for was $108, a far cry from $325. I paid them $65 for the service charge and asked them to leave.

      The next day another service provider looked at the furnace. They found that, while it did need a replacement part, it was not the part that AST said it needed. The part that actually needed to be replaced was $8 yes e-i-g-h-t dollars! And even though they did not have that part with them, they were able to use a substitute part to get the furnace working while we waited for the part to arrive. The other service made two service trips and we had to pay for labor twice and it still only cost us $120

      I also think its important to note that the furnace went out during one of the coldest weeks of the year, I really think AST was banking on us willing to pay anything to get the heat fixed. I would not use them under any circumstances! Not only do they not know what they are doing, they will over charge you in the process

      On the phone seemed like good people. Could not find anything about them on the web, but they are coming tomorrow to fix a 2005 Whirlpool refrigerator that's leaking. We will see how they do.

      I am an apartment manager in Imperial Beach. I have had these guys over to look at a drier. They have been over 3 times over the past week and still haven't fixed the issue of the drier. Called them last night after the guy left, cause he didn't stop by my apartment to tell me what is going on. The lady I talked with said she will talk with the technician and let me know this morning about what is going on. Still haven't heard from them. The technicians seem like they have no idea what they are doing. Plus they never call back about whatever the issue is when they say they are going to. My advice is pass them over and look for someone else. Not worth the time and headache to deal with AST solutions.

      Wow, I guess I got really lucky with the service person AST sent to check out my extremely noisy and vibrating Whirlpool duet washing machine. For starters, I contacted them yesterday at their Berkeley number and they had someone come today (on a Saturday) and they even called when he was available to come 2 hours earlier.

      Adrian was so amazingly thorough and patient and took the time to really figure out the problem and explain things to me as he went along. In the end, he discovered it is a really big problem (replacement of ball bearings) and recommended that, (because this particular model has been discontinued and is known for this problem), the expense of replacement (several hundred dollars) would not be worth it and we should get something new. He was here around an hour, gave great advice, and I was only charged a $65 service fee, which I was happy to pay.

      If you can get service from Adrian by calling the Berkeley AST number, I recommend them wholeheartedly.

      First to Review

      They "serve" Alameda (http://appliancerepairinhayward.com/, http://appliancerepairinalameda.com/) and Contra Costa county (http://appliancerepairinwalnutcreek.com/), so have multiple websites set up. I usually use Mike's Appliance Repair service, but Mike was busy and refrigerator was to be fixed rather sooner then later. When I called, there was no problem to pick an appointment hour the same day. Not too busy, I thought. Diagnose charge $45, lower then other shops. Its getting better, almost too good. Then they called, tried to reschedule to even earlier time, but I could not. And they still showed up before appointment time. Repaired the refrigerator in 45 min or less, cleaned after themselves and presented $263 bill, after $25 advertised rebate (yay!) on labor ($130 total labor charge for this job). Well, refrigerator fixed, on time, the only option we had was to pay. After repair, obviously we asked what is the warranty on their job, which was a usual 90 days (We had multiple repairs done on our washer a year ago, so I had to make sure).
      The part (relay capacitor) cost us $148. Unusual I thought, but what I know? The next day, I called local part distributor for Whirlpool (APD) in San Leandro to confirm the price of the part in question. Of course, price was way lower, $58.80. Well I thought, I give AST Solutions a call. I made clear that I do not dispute labor charges and that I was just unhappy with the part charge. They said that is the price because they use original parts. Then I presented the quote from factory parts distributor for the same exact part. So they started to tell me the story, that their price includes 90 days warranty (what?). When I said that warranty is a standard of such a repair, not some surcharge of the replacement part, they just laughed and hanged up on me.
      They not registered with Chamber of Commerce, nor BBB. So my only take is to review them on Yelp! (they have no review anywhere).
      Avoid, do not give them business. I hope this helps you to get better service somewhere else.

      April 2014 my builtin Frig washing machine stopped working. (half way threw a load). I found AST online and called at 4pm. 5pm i had a service rep looking at my washer.He gave me a quote and said he could be back early the next afternoon to do the repair. Perfect job and less than 24hours! Verly happy.

      If you have a high end appliance check the manufacture to see if AST is factory trained. They put the wrong ignitor in my appliance and it burned out a $600.00 part. They never acknowledged their mistake even though the manufacture and a factory rep stated AST was wrong. The manufacture replaced the part for me for free or I would have taken AST to court. After 3 months AST did return me the cost of the wrong part and labor to put it in.

      DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! I called this company today, randomly based on reviews I read on Yahoo local.... The entire experience was HORRIBLE!! First, they arrived late. After the representative from the office called three times to verify my address (which she had wrong each time) they arrived to GUESS what was wrong! Suggested to start with one possible issue and if it wasn't right then it must have been the other! (of course I have to pay for both) The workers were dirty and tracked mud and dirt (which they didn't clean up) all over my house from the front door to the kitchen! The left dirty (muddy looking) fingerprints all over the inside of my freezer and ice maker! Exactly what I want around all my food....dirt! Once the part was replaced they said now I have to just wait and see if it works in the next 24hrs! So I still have no idea if the $250 I paid for a simple water valve even worked! The repair man was here for a total of 15 minutes and charged me $150 in labor charges! RIDICULOUS!!! Especially when I'm going to have to spend an hour of my own time cleaning up their mess!! Needless to say, I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in the service, professionalism, cleanliness, and quality of work. I'd rather buy a new refrigerator than have these people come back in my house!

      Do not call this company !!!! They are complete scam artists and thank goodness I realized it with not much loss. They first came to diagnosis a problem with my heater and gave me one invoice. Then later in the afternoon when they sent another tech he left me with another invoice name stating a 600.oo bill to repair. Mind you my heater worked....then after him leaving it didn't. After phone calls to the 4 #'s on 2 different invoice I finally received a call back from a guy accusing me of of harassing them. Really 4 #'s how was I supposed to know which one went to you and you have 265.00 of mine and now my heater doesn't work. Oh....so I climb on the roof ( I am a 50 year old woman ) and find that he forgot to turn the gas back on after supposedly diagnosing my problem so....Seriously !!! So after freezing all night and a ladder and lovely climb at 7am....I have heat !!!!!! On an honest part they did return my checks this morning.
