Auto City Car Wash

It seems weird for me to rate a car wash but I feel obligated. Anyways, it's utterly shocking how hard it is to find an affordable car wash in San Francisco that isn't a gas-station machine wash or a self-wash. So when I drove by this place, I wanted to give it a try. I should have looked at the prices. The cheapest basic was was $21. Yup, for $21 they will vacuum and wipe down the interior and a basic car wash and dry. That was a bit too steep so I just chose for the exterior wash for $15 which just included, you guess it, a wash and dry. The place is kinda divey in the sense that everyone brings their Prius or Mercedes here. The wait is pretty long and when it was done, yes my car was cleaner than before. But, there were still water streaks on my mirrors and dirt on my tires. For $15, no thanks.

Maybe I was spoiled when I was in Riverside. Where you can get an interior vacuum, air freshener, car wash, wax, and dry for $11.

Anyone know of a cheaper car wash in the city, please message me.

I am surprised by all the negative reviews. I had a positive experience here today. I was desperate: my car suddenly smelled like dead rodent because a rodent had evidently crawled into the car from the bottom of the car or something (I don't keep any food in there EVER so this was kind of a fluke!). I could not see anything but ...that smell! I knew something was definitely *somewhere*. My mechanic place told me they definitely don't do 'dead rodent' search operations (they've got good boundaries) so I was like, "OK, where can I go?". The mechanic suggested a thorough cleaning at a car wash - after all, you have to FIND the rodent and remove him or her before the smell can be gone and the only way to find them is to deep clean. (If this situation ever happens to you, I can really sympathize with how awful it is as you are going to spend ALL DAY getting the yucky smell out of your clothes and hair and you're going to throw out an awful lot of your belongings....but I digress!)

I wouldn't have blamed Auto City for not wanting to take the job but they were stalwartly professional like, "Dead rodent? No problem, we can find him (or her) and assist with removal". They had me leave my car there for about two hours and then when I came back, they showed me a picture to prove the deed had been done (for those of you who are wondering, the rodent must have crawled up from outside and into the trunk but then died in the heatwave, poor thing). Anyway, Auto City did a deep and VERY thorough cleaning of the inside, total detailing....they cleaned every nook and cranny, and washed the outside of the car to boot. After their work, the car was spotless and beautiful - probably the nicest car wash I have ever had. They got rid of 98% of the smell for the most part too ("It's gonna take some time", as the old song goes....but with wide-open windows, things are looking good....)

The work these guys do is top notch - five stars for sure. I am removing one star because the phone number they give you on the ticket they hand you when you leave your car is useless - it just automatically hangs up when you call, so there is NO way to call and check on your car if you don't hear from them at the time you're expecting. For me, that wasn't a big deal since I could walk over from my home - but if you didn't have transportation (because you are without your car), you'd be out of luck in being able to contact them. So, the actual work done is GREAT but the admin part is a little sloppy (including paying - they thought I'd paid and were about to let me drive off the lot - and I had to remind them that I owed them money! So I hope they tighten it up for their own sakes 'cause I fear someday someone is gonna be dishonest and leave them in a lurch.) Other than that, all in all, I was very grateful for their help today - they did a great job and I would have been lost without them. I would definitely get my car washed here again, hopefully next time under far more normal circumstances.

I've only gotten my car wash here once but I liked the job they did. I think they missed a couple of spots but not a huge deal. They were quick, they quoted 30 minutes but I think it was ready in a little less than 30 minutes. They have a lot of different options as to what you can get. I did the $41.99 basic wash, it doesn't include the cleaning the wheels. It's in a good neighborhood because you can leave and get a coffee or snack with Mission or Valencia being 1-2 blocks away. I plan on coming back here to get my car washed regularly.

Not a clue why the reviews aren't great !! Coming from Southern California, good car wash places are on every corner but I haven't been able to find a decent one here that's isn't super expensive. This place was great !! It was 47 dollars for inside and out with an air freshener! They put the car through a machine wash and then hand dry/ detail the inside, outside and tires. Overall took about 30ish minutes seriously amazing coming here all the time

Unexplained dent of door frame. The car is brand new and had zero body damage when I arrived. The worker acted clueless and said "it's a dent". I am meticulous about my car and there was no dent, in particular at eye-level, on the cars frame.

It's later in the day and repairs estimated at $500. So plus the $100 cleaning and dent and my first and only visit will cost $600. My fault for not washing it myself I suppose?

It's the next morning and I realize that I will also have to pay for a rental car, so these people have truly screwed me over for just wanting the car clean. The phone is a joke, auto answers in static with no way to leave a message.

You can see by the deep wax machine lines they knew they did and tried to cover up the damage.

This is my favorite car wash been coming here for years but dang is this lady rude. I'm in customer service myself so I can't understand service like this. I was super nice I said thank you twice she staples my receipts hands them to me just turns around with a mug and gets on her phone. Ima still come here and give them the business. Still love this place.

I've taken my vehicle here 4 times for a full service inside/outside car wash, and I've always received great service. The process can be a little confusing the first time you go, but the workers and helpful and walk you through it. I go during weekdays and have never had to wait, and the whole process takes roughly 10 minutes. Highly recommend for a speedy and thorough car clean!

My husband lost his college ring about a year ago, and couldn't recall where he misplaced it. Today he got his truck detailed at Auto City, and they found it and put it in his truck's cup holder. What a great and honest place!! Thank You with all of our hearts!!

Awesome car wash on S Van Ness! Staff is super helpful and kind and took awesome care of car. I got an exterior wash for $26 and it literally is the cleanest my car has ever looked. they even did the tires for free because I was coming in from a cross country drive. They have a super extensive menu and range of services for every budget. Plus they HAND WASH the cars, which is so huge for those who fear scratching and such! Could not recommend enough and will definitely make the longer drive here now :)

As usual, the staff was professional, and did an excellent job of cleaning and polishing my car. I have been using Auto City for many years.

Overcharged me by $10. This is not the first time. Check your receipts. They will rip you off. I am done going here.
