The work was pretty good and results were acceptable, according to what was paid.
The team was very professional and hard working, patient enough to hear and apply
our requirements.
Sometimes it was a bit hard to reach their management, but I guess they were busy,
still would get updates and feedback on a regular basis.
Price reasonable and treatment was fair and professional all the way to the end.
I would recommend them for any project, it was nice to work with the Avid team.

Keyur K.Nutley, NJ111464Mar 18, 2024Terrible people to deal with, extremely rude and unprofessional. Anton is truly a person who will not work with you even when he makes mistakes. I had some work done to separate a large room into 2 which involved fairly simple work drawn out by the architect.
He did not measure properly and installed a door that was too narrow that the inspection rejected which cost extra.
He installed lights in a closet that was no one asked and then said they wouldn't work any further until I paid for it.
He added extra costs for all the mistakes he made and said 'this is what extra costs is and if you want further explanation, he will bill me extra for his time to explain each item'

Avid had done a few projects for us in the past few months, and working with them has been a pleasure. Communication is consistent and clear, and they always arrive promptly and keep me updated along the way. We had our stairs redone by them, and our kitchen tile replaced/vent hood installed and we're really happy with the outcome. If one of your major priorities is communication (along with good work) Avid is a great bet.

BAD EXPERIENCE! I really tried to make it an easy job - sent pictures ahead of time, described the work I was looking for, however none of that seemed to have helped.
Contracted to seal fitment around PTAC Air Con unit which was missing molding at baseboard area. Sent pictures ahead of time to outline the work that they were going to have to do. Agreed service was to (1) install baseboard which had a gap between my unit and the wall (leading to air leakage) and (2) seal the gap in the air con unit sleeve.
They came unprepared for the job without a baseboard, and instead installed caulk where it should have gone. The caulk installation was messy at best, so I instructed them to remove it prior to leaving. The picture shows how they "cleaned" it off. They did offer to go out and purchase a baseboard at home depot to put it in, but this was something they knew I wanted installed, so I was shocked this was their answer.
As an additional humorous aside- they asked me to borrow a pair of pliers because they left theirs at "another worksite".
On the brightside, they did fix the air con unit fitment into the wall sleeve (using the pliers they borrowed).
Overall, I'm not happy and when I provided them this feedback they became defensive and it was not until I mentioned socializing my feedback that they offered any outreach.

The fact that someone can offer a subzero fridge in exchange for work LoL and I feel like with the great imagination Anton has, he should write a movie!!! Speaks to his character ... how one can fabricate lies two years later! He is quite literally the worst "professional" I have met. Anton, you wrote this response 2 years later! I never asked anyone to work for me directly! Your own people kept bad mouthing you and suggested I call them after. I did not like their work nor their commitment and would never have hired them!

Client contacted me with lots of ideas which I spent hours discussing. When it came down to starting client countered with a lower price than what we agreed upon before scheduling the night before (this was 20% less than agreed upon). Day 2 of the job client propositioned my crew to work directly for her and proposed that a GC was a waste of money disregarding that they were my full time crew members and 2/3 on that job are still with me (one of them since 2007).
Daily 60 min conversations and endless change orders resulted in delays as client wanted us to source reclaimed wood, fabricate (weld custom steel supports) and white wash wall planks which were not part of the original scope of work, a simple brick veneer was, not a combination. In addition to this client pressured me to re-locate electric without pulling permits.
Client refused to accept that these would be change orders and continued to propose to my men to finish the work for her directly.
Upon finishing client refused to pay for change orders, deducted a substantial percentage of the total contract price anticipating she would be able to hire one of my junior carpenters to finish the job, being the last part of the payment in exchange for an old Subzero fridge she gave him for 1 day of work and a discount him painting her place by himself.

This has been the most horrible experience of my lifetime. Hiring him was the biggest mistake I made in complicating a simple job.
First things first, Anton said he only takes one project at a time and agreed to begin my project immediately. He pressurized me to pick up all the material within 2 days so his men would not have to wait. I made 5 am runs and picked up everything needed for my design idea.
Despite having all materials every job took forever. He never collaborated with me on the design concept or the materials that he would need. I ordered excess of everything because my contractor was not interested in giving me 5 minutes of his time to gauge the design and agree on amount of materials needed or execution of the design. I ended u with $400 of extra materials and a $550 door that eventually could not be installed. I could return the door but lost $400 in others.
Despite providing detailed sketches of my designs since our initial conversation, Anton had no comprehension of what was needed to be done. He is JUST A HANDYMAN, not a contractor. He has no method of working, no professionalism. After work began, I never saw him again. He would only show up in the evenings to see the progress and yell at his client for things he did not understand!!! Yes YELL at HIS CLIENT! Like I said, he is the worst person I have ever met. He never even bothered to look at the sketches and pictures I sent him day 1 of the project initiation, never cleared any doubts he may have or never even gave me 5 minutes of face time to iron out all the details. That's when I should have gone with my gut an fired him but I made the mistake of giving him a chance.
The job that should have taken 5 days took 11. And it was so SHODDY!!
This man is the most disrespectful person to say the least. He screamed at me for apparently "changing the scope of the project", for talking to his employees about design execution when they were the only ones executing the project and to be seen day in and day out. If you wish to hire someone, hire the guy working for him because Anton DOES NOTHING!! He just takes credit for work his men do and screams at his clients for discussing details with them. He blamed me for changing the design when my design was the same since Day 1. Except that Anton never looked at the design ever and was mum when I showed him the proof (pic attached). I had to prevent this man from entering my house after I how rude he was and my husband had to intervene.
Pictures speak a 1000 words so see for yourself how botched up this project was. He ruined my wall and asked his men to keep shut when they pointed out the mistakes (pillars did not match, shelf was slanting, the trim was not installed shabbily) saying no one will notice them. (See pics) Who does that??? This man clearly has not an iota of professionalism and he is a CHEAT!! BEWARE!
UPDATE: After I posted this review, Anton asked one of his men who no longer works with him to "thank" me. He still did not have the courtesy and decency to make things right by fixing the errors he made. This man has no humility.

Kenny was great. He showed up on time, was friendly and did good work. He was also careful to minimize the mess as much.

Avid is a first rate operation and I'd not only recommend them to friends and family, but I plan to use them again myself for all future projects and fixes. I have worked with Avid for several projects in the past 5-6 years from odd jobs to renovations and have found Avid to be skilled craftsmen who deliver quality results at fair prices.
I highly recommend their customized millwork which was executed to perfection and their masonry work which is second to none. This is a full service shop. From soup to nuts...framing, painting, plumbing, electrical, Avid has done it all for us and we couldn't be happier with the results and the process. They are a really nice bunch of people too!

Beware! Avid Handyman irrevocably damaged a door they were attempting to install at my house, and refused to take responsibility for it.
Avid was hired to install a door at my home, which they installed upside down (see photos below). The door can no longer be used, since the door handles would be at the wrong height if the door were turned upright to its proper position.
My phone calls, emails and letter requesting compensation for the cost of this damaged door have all been ignored.
Unless you're looking for the added aggravation of going to court for your next small home improvement project, look elsewhere.

Easy to schedule, updated me via text and email, and communication was super easy. We also had our dishwasher secured into place under the countertop as well as rewiring our Nest fire alarm. Everything was so quick and easy! The gentlemen that arrived to do the work were kind and prepared. Got the job done pain free.
