I wish I had a better experience with Bay Air. The dispatcher was very nice and helpful on the phone but the service technician did not meet his commitment to return and install the part that was broken on my refrigerator.

After waiting 5 days (over a weekend), I went to the parts store and bought the part myself and installed it in less then a day. Saved $250 on the project according to Bay Air's quote for parts and labor.

BEWARE! The owner is awful, made our situation worse and then overcharged us! We had another person come to fix Richard's mess and he confirmed that indeed Richard had caused the problem and then way overcharged us. He is awful, stay away!!!!!!!!!

I guess we could have checked the reviews before using him.
Richard the owner has a history of poor service and overcharging.
We actually have decided to pursue legal recourse to get our money back.
There are many other reputable companies.
I would say do your homework and stay away.
He damaged our units and now we have to replace many other parts at a cost four time higher than the original cost.

I should have read more reviews before calling this company. Earlier this morning I spoke with someone from Bay Area HVAC and received a quote for someone to come see why my heating system wasn't working. He was very polite and respectful, and I was quoted $95 for the onsite diagnostic. I agreed and gave them my address. I was told someone would be here between 1-3 pm. I took time off from work.

30 minutes before someone was supposed to be here, a guy called and said the quote I was given for an onsite visit was too low and it would be $250 minimum. He said we were too far and he wouldn't come unless I agreed to the new rate. He said go find someone else. When I protested, he hung up on me.

To say that I'm upset by this treatment is an understatement. I normally will give people the benefit of the doubt and refrain from posting something negative, but based on these reviews, it's not warranted. I can deal with a cold house for another few days. I can't deal with a company that treats people this way.

Huge scam. Richard the owner came to my dad's house to fix an A/C unit. Quoted random numbers and I later discovered the parts on Amazon were 1/4th the price he was quoting. We ended up paying up because he had completed the job, but it left a very sour taste in my mouth to read all the other yelp reviews detailing the exact same experience.

      F*** this guy.

Seems like they are trying to overcharge for everything. "$95 is only a house call and to 'look' at the A/C"... Though the office said it is to diagnose the problem (which they didn't), so I refused to pay more than what the office said. To add a C-wire they quoted $500 (the system worked just fine without for many years, so not sure why they wanted to add)... Not a customer friendly business, would not recommend.

I have been working with Richard last 4 years. whenever my clients have issues with their HVAC unit. They are always very responsive. Richard will find the alternative solution to help my client save money. Most recent issue we had an HVAC unit on the roof of the condo. instead of replacing the whole unit, he found parts that worked. Saving my client thousands of dollars. I would recommend this business

I called down the list of hvac repair due to an emergency and this place was the only one that was available same day. Now I know why! My issue was simple, the Nest was saying no power to it. I just needed to test volts to and from and confirm ohms at the fan limit switch to confirm my suspicions as the blower worked manually but I couldn't find my multimeter. Richard came by and said I need a new furnace. After asking him for some simple details on why I needed a new furnace he couldn't say anything about the multimeter output or testing with manual thermostat. He proceeded to tell me the parts aren't available, then he got mad at me and asked if I was an engineer. When I said yes he got mad, told me to fix it myself and stormed off to his truck w his driver. This all while I called the office and asked to speak to mgmt. The office wasn't much help but called him and he came back out still upset, said he wouldn't charge me, I could fix it myself as I was so smart and then he drove off. I borrowed a multimeter and the issue came down to the thermostat! I tested with another and then replaced it and everything works. So going from a $5k new furnace to a $200 new Nest by doing simple tests that took 15min says this guy can't troubleshoot, can't be trusted, and tries to pry on the unknowing. Do not use them.

My wife called around and we had Bay Air HVAC service, Inc come to our house to repair the furnace. The upfront cost is $95.00 for a diagnostic charge. My worst fears about these service people is they are going to collect the money and give an outrageous estimate. Sure enough, Richard's estimate to replace the logic board and flame sensor was outragous, he wrote it originally on scratch paper, we rejected right away. I had looked online previously and knew that I could buy these parts for less. The parts markup and labor is beyond unreasonable. We paid the pirate his $95.00 and sent him on his way. I ordered the parts for $121.00 including tax. I watched a youtube video on how to replace the computer board, and the flame sensor should be simple enough too. I offered him $600.00 to do the job, but the greedy troll thinks he is worth much more to actaully do the work. He did a poor job of putting the furnace back together after his diagnosis too. The filter was bent, and he didn't even secure it down with the wire. The cover for the board was put on wrong too.

Richard, you should be ashamed of yourself!

Our gas furnace (Carrier Weathermaker 8000) stopped heating. The main blower still worked fine but the burners wouldn't turn on. I called Bay Air HVAC Services and they sent out a crew to work on it. The Field Specialist (Richard Aredo) did a couple checks then stated that the furnace needed a new "inducer motor assembly" and that due to the age of the furnace, these parts were no longer available. He said I had to buy a new furnace and he would give me a "special deal" of only $5,500 to do the job. I said that surely this was a very common furnace and that replacement parts should still be available. He again said NO, they were not. I told him I was expecting maybe a $500 service call to fix the furnace but NOT a $5000 bill for a new furnace, and that I would seek a second opinion and sent him away (after paying him $95 to make the call). About 10 minutes later I get a phone call from him saying that he miraculously found a replacement motor assembly and could install it that evening for the amazing price of $500. I declined his offer and said I would be using another company because I no longer trusted him to tell me the truth.
Basically this guy seemed to be a shake down artist who wanted to get as much money out of me as possible, and lied to my face about the availability of parts for this unit. I did some checking on the web and found the original Carrier OEM exact replacement assembly (part number 318984-753) for $142. On both Amazon and Ebay I found secondary market replacement assemblies for my model made by several different manufacturers for between $30 and $50.
Being a senior citizen, I am aware that some companies out there seek to take advantage of us older folk by selling them services and products they don't need. I feel that Bay Air HVAC is one of those companies. At least this particular worker (Richard Aredo) is.

Do not trust! We had the following challenges: 1) tripled the quoted price last minute, 2) didn't show up to the scheduled appointment, and 3) yelled at us when we asked why they didn't show up.

We scheduled an appointment between 10 AM and noon. They quoted $95 for a service call. The morning of the appointment, they called us to say that the owner had changed the price. He wanted $350 because they had not been to our house before. Since we had been waiting for the appointment and needed the work done, we reluctantly accepted. Then, they didn't show up. We called them at noon to ask what had happened. This time, the owner picked up. He said they were busy. I asked why they hadn't come. He said that he would come if we paid him cash on arrival. I shared that the person who scheduled us said he would invoice us. The owner said he would only come for cash. I'm not sure if the good reviews were purchased, but I don't think this is a preferred group to work with for HVAC.
