My husband and I usually stay at this hotel when visiting family in the area. It's nicer than the Embassy Suites across the street and has a great gym that hotel guests can use for free (see below for gym review). The rooms are nice and clean, they offer free wi-fi, and there is a convenient coffee bar in the hotel (not Starbucks). It's a business hotel so rates tend to be cheaper on the weekends and holidays, which is good for family visits. It's close to the Pleasant Hill Bart Station and jogging trails are right across the street. However, here are some things to consider before staying here:

      1. The hotel fancies itself a community center for the upscale Walnut Creek area. They host a lot of events for families that are intended for residents, not hotel guests, which can make the hotel crowded. You'll see a lot of locals and their kids just sitting around the lobby. They keep weird magazines around for locals, such as Bay Area Parent. Plus, the hotel restaurant has some sort of membership thing for locals. If a member is in the restaurant or bar, they tend to get extra special attention, sometimes to the detriment of hotel guests. Just keep this in mind when booking here - the hotel is trying to serve two masters (hotel guests and locals), and their needs aren't always compatible.
      2. Valet is mandatory for hotel guests (unless you want to park at the Pleasant Hill Bart Station and walk half a mile). It costs $19/day. Like most hotels that require mandatory valet, they don't always have the staff to handle it. So be prepared for potential long waits, both coming and going, especially when the locals use the valet along with the hotel guests.
      3. For whatever reason, the front desk is not always staffed which can be annoying when trying to check in or get information. Feel free to find anyone who works there at the gym, coffee bar, restaurant, whatever, to help you. They can help you out or track down the transitory front desk people.
      4. This is a Marriott chain. The front desk people insisted that I must join Marriott Rewards in order to get Rapid Rewards credit on Southwest. I think that is absolute B.S. Eventually, I gave in because we stay here so often. But I have yet to see any benefit from joining Marriott Rewards except that now they let me collect my 0.5 point/stay from Southwest that I believe I was entitled to anyway.
      5. The hotel rooms are decent, but the bathrooms lack usable counter space and towel racks. Also, the bathroom sink is a square bowl on top of a glass counter, which makes a huge mess when you are trying to wash your face. All in all, the rooms are comfortable.

The gym is extremely large and nice. They have all the latest equipment and most of the cardio machines have their own TVs. The gym staff keeps up on the latest classes. For example, they have barre classes now. The gym staff is really nice - while I was there, a staff member walked around with a glass pitcher and paper cups, offering water to people working out! The locker rooms have a code system that allows you to use a locker without having a lock. Just remember your four-digit code. Each locker room has its own steam room, whirlpool, and sauna - not co-ed! Nice big, soft towels for working out and showers. The gym has to be pricey, I don't know the rates. But I think it would be worth it if I lived here. Going to this gym is like going to a spa - I would go as often as I could.

3 stars for the hotel, 5 stars for the gym. Since the two are apparently inseparable on Yelp, 4 stars it is.

Very satisfied! I enrolled my 4,5 daughter to kids summer camp. I was able to choose proper lunch for her in advance. Couches always played with the kids, they made a great projects together. There was also pet zoo invited to camp, and... my daughter hold a crocodile!! Great fun for kids while I'm on my exercises at gym!

My stepson has been attending the 2024 summer camp at the Walnut Creek Bay Club Children Center. The Children Center is led by Family Programming Director Katelyn Jones, and it has been a fantastic experience for him! From swimming to engaging games. He has enjoyed every moment, and he has always been looking forward to attending each week. The supervision provided by the camp counselors is exceptional, ensuring the kids are safe and well-guided at all times.

Katelyn Jones does an incredible job formulating daily activities that are not only fun but also healthy and suitable for all age groups. My stepson has flourished during his time at the camp, making many new friends and thriving in the social and educational atmosphere provided.

It's clear that this camp is dedicated to the well-being and development of the children, and I highly recommend it to any parent looking for a summer camp that offers both enjoyment and growth for their kids.

Many days when members arrive there are no towels in the towel cabinets. Sadly, that leaves members with no ability to wipe sweat off themselves and off the equipment . Given Bay Club's obvious and insidious profit motives, next we will be charged extra for a towel! Perhaps I will need to bring my own.

Me and my family love the Bay Club in Walnut Creek! We've been members for more than 6 years now and thanks to the Kids World center at the club we've been able to come with little kids, relax and workout. They have plenty of employees dedicated for the little ones which has made their time spend there great as well. It's not like an ordinary daycare, they have slides, splash parties, parent night out events, plenty of new toys, etc. All the staff at the club is amazing and we feel like we are part of a family.

I was searching for a gym that offered convenience. This gym looked clean, it offered cool amenities like a pool, sauna, spa etc... but what was awesome was the relaxation area, with hydro massage, cryo chair , massage gun and the leg compression. The classes looked cool but I didn't get a chance to try it. So many machines you can train with. Workout room with weights, there's the cardio room and rooms for cycle classes and other classes. The staff are welcoming and friendly.

Great place for kids! My son loves going to parents night out every weekend. The summer camp is a great experience for my kiddo to take advantage of all the amenities the club has to offer. You don't need to be a member to sign up for camp, my son's friends love to join him at summer camp.

The entire staff of Kids World at the Bay Club in Walnut Creek is absolutely amazing! My daughter loves going to day care and summer camps because of all the fun things they do. The staff really cares about the children and loves having fun with them. I have recommend Kids World to many of my friends already and would recommend it to anyone.

No response from management. If they really cared about safety or prioritizing security, they would've been properly monitoring this parking lot from the get-go. We previously had parking cards so ONLY members could enter the garage. Anyone can still enter and steal or loiter without any oversight. It's clear that this is just a stunt to charge members more money and limit our time there since they and are only concerned with profits and increasing membership. I've never had an issue parking. It's obvious they don't care about our experience or the inconvenience and cost endured since Bay Club started. They by no means have the facilities, service or consistency that any of the clubs they claim to compete with offer today. I for one, will be looking at other options and sharing these details with everyone I know. Toxic and abusive corp culture!

This review belongs to the three chefs at the Bay Club or the Renaissance after my self and my grandson worked out. We went and sat down. He ordered a hamburger I ordered the Cobb salad. It was today around 530 6 o'clock on 23 June, I want to be specific, because the three chefs I believe it was three chefs. I just wanna say to them that it was absolutely amazing It was the best hamburger he's had in a long time and the Cobb salad is definitely to die for so if you go there decide to have a little bite of Food get the Cobb salad and if your little one is with you, they will absolutely love the hamburger. My hat is off to the three chefs that were there today on 23 June around 5:30 PM or 6 o'clock. I also want to say that the young gentleman that took our order was also friendly had a smile on his face. It was a great experience all the way around.

The bar here really needs some work. The employees were fabulous and were trying their best to offer great service. The manager, however, was grumpy, rude, and didn't care about providing us good service.
